we weren't trying to sell this as news, apologies for the confusion and obvious pain it has caused you. the story originated from The Los Angles Times (which you'll find is completely uncontaminated by news-worthy material). on this site we're trying to create a mix that reflects the magazine: culture, whats-on, comment and occasional relevant news, we'll try and incorporate a better definition in the future between what we deem 'NEWS' and 'COMMENT'. thanks for your thoughts, garbled as they were!

findlay, first off thanks for stopping by - appreciate your comment. it's true the story has nothing to do with leith, specifically, but i thought it worth posting as we can now offer a wider perspective on the leither 'blog' and i knew the subject had global interest-- it caught your eye! i don't think its tenuous to remind you that the MVA's were held in Leith a few years back. we hope to offer a balanced reportage of stories from wherever; Penicuik to Pennsylvania! this is not your father's Leither.
