I still thought there'd be more to it. That being said, did anyone watch JCVD? I heard that it was fairly good.

It's too late for it, but George Clooney would have made an amazing Nick Fury.

I know we're all getting a few laughs out of this, but am I the only one who seems to see the obvious in all of this. I would NOT expect this man (pictured above) to want to go watch a Brad Pitt/David Fincher film. Shit he looks like an extra from Death Race. Maybe the guy got really mad because he accidentally wondered into the wrong theater and was hoping to see The Spirit.

I went to Universal Studios over the summer to check out the new Simpson's Ride. It had been 10 years since I had been to the park, a lot due to lack of interest. It was cool to see and experience some of the new attractions that had come in that 10 year period. However, for the most part, I don't really think you'd need to go to the park all that often, even if it's only $5 more. There really are not too many attractions that would make it worth a repeated visits.

/Film : 9 Movie Trailer

I love the Final Fantasy series as games, but in films they just don't seem to work. The reason why the game works as a story is because you have hours to develop and expand characters/settings. In a 1:30-2:00 feature you need to keep the pace moving and not let it drag. If "9" does huge business then, yeah, there'll be a bunch of knockoff's trying to attempt that same formula or dark and adult oriented. Like everyone is saying though, it may be a while before we hit that point. I'm hopeful with this, but I won't be unrealistic. I'm really surprised how much dialogue has taken place with this topic and my few ramblings.

/Film : Roger Ebert Bitchslaps The Spirit

Yeah, but to my understanding Robocop 3 was not Miller's fault, but more of a studio intervention clusterf***k. I believe Miller had written the script and sat aboard to help develop it, but it eventually got pushed/pulled/twisted from that Miller originally wrote. As a matter of fact he decided after that, that he wouldn't be involved with Hollywood. It wasn't till Robert Rodriguez did the opening scene for Sin City that Miller realized that there was some good out there. I still don't think Miller was ready to helm a film by himself, if ever.

I don't think there's anything wrong with an artist staying true to what they know, but the Miller style doesn't work for everything. In his classic Batman comics, his art really works for the Dark Knight Returns, but I don't think it'd work for Batman: Year One. I've always felt that it's about knowing your strengths and playing to those. The gritty tough film noir style Miler has does not seem to work for the Spirit. If you enjoy it though then that's good.

Don't worry Peter, the comparison isn't too far removed. I think people are fixated on the specifics of both shows. While it's not a perfect example, I think everyone can agree that they can somehow understand what you're trying to say. It's not like you said that the Wire is the new Dragnet.

Yeah, but I doubt he'd even want to do it. Hasn't he recently said how he's not 100% about wanting to play George Michael in the Arrested Development movie? He'd have to be completely off if he'd turn down Arrested Development in search for Gilligan's Island. I still think that no matter what this movie would be a horrible idea. Certain properties just work in their original incarnation and don't need to be revisited. I don't think anyone is looking for another take on the Munsters or My 3 Sons. However, I would love to see Travolta as Vinnie Barbarino in a revenge movie called "Welcome Back Cotter: School's Out For Good".

I understand what you're saying, but I think I should clarify my thoughts about Pixar being a family company. I know Pixar films have been dealing with more adult content (Wall-E and environmentalism) and I don't think they'll stop approaching themes that relate to adults. However, I don't think Pixar will make a film that is geared only towards teens and adults. I believe that Pixar will always keep their focus on a wide audience so that they may better convey the message that their films are trying to make. So while they'll handle big/important topics, they'll still make sure that it's acceptable at all levels. Thankfully, Pixar doesn't dumb itself down when discussing messages that are rather adult. As I said before, I love Pixar and would not want them to change their process, just continue reinventing/pushing the envelope like they've always done.
