OLYMPIA – Washington’s whooping cough epidemic continues on a record pace that has already surpassed 1,000 reported cases. The total of 1,008 as of April 21 is more than reported in all of 2011 and is the highest number of cases since 1,026 were reported in all of 2005. Just a tad more than 5 or 6. http://www.doh.wa.gov/Publicat/2012_news/12-045.h...

I had sympathy for the guy in the video, right up until he started talking. Why not answer the question "are you with them"? I couldn't even watch after the first couple of times he said he didn't have to say. With the amount of cops there it was not the time to get cute with a yes or no question. Unless he was with them and was doing something that would have gotten him arrested, a simple 'no, not with them' would have ended his part. Of course then he wouldn't have a story....

Exactly! A friend of mine was doing volunteer work at a shelter in Atlanta and a family turned in a pitbull because she was TOO FRIENDLY. Kid in the back seat of the car crying his eyes out while the parents took away a bouncy sweet faced pit.

In April? http://www.pnwlocalnews.com/east_king/svr/news/11... "Apr 05 2011 A request to allow events in North Bend’s cottage residential zone has been voted down by the city’s Planning Commission." April 5th. And yet after that time they kept scheduling events and taking money. This was not "mean neighbors", it was a couple continuing to take money from people despite knowing that they were not supposed to be running that particular business in that particular location. And I get that there are appeals that happen ad nauseum, but to continue scheduling events during the appeal process was wrong on so many levels. I hope everyone who has to cancel does get their money back but personally I wouldn't hold my breath.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Teens admit to shooting more than 50 cats in Battle Ground | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Breaking

Sounds like some parents did not give the right lecture. Rule #2 given with the first BB gun or pellet gun is if you shoot it you eat it. I doubt they are "serial killers in training". (Rule #1 should be don't point it at people and always assume its loaded, my bad). That kind of critter killing is usually done by an individual and up close hands on, not shot from far away. This was poor parenting and poor judgement by kids who were not thinking that the moving target they were shooting at was actually a living creature and possibly someone's pet. Based on the numbers, I'd bet many of the cats were feral, but that doesn't excuse the incredible poor judgement. Community service at the local animal shelter and a fine big enough to get the parent's attention.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Man attacked by pit bulls in Kirkland park, opens fire | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Breaking New

For the record, my mother, who will be 70 this year, has lived with a bad leg for most of her life caused by being dragged off her bicycle by a dog when she was a child. After getting her to the ground if the dog had decided to go for her throat instead of savaging her leg she would probably have not survived the attack and I wouldn't be here responding. The breed of dog? Cocker spaniel. ANY BREED CAN KILL UNDER THE RIGHT CIRCUMSTANCES. Pit Bulls, like Rottweilers 10 years ago or so, are suffering from 'popular dog' syndrome. Over bred by back yard breeders and then sold to every joe off the street with the right amount of money. I remember when the headlines were "Rottweiler mix attack" or "Doberman mix". It is not the dog it is the owner, but also it is not just the owner its the breeder. Unregulated breeding leads to reinforcement of bad genes, bad traits. That said, the owner in this event was an idiot to take his 3 dogs out unleashed. They are a pack and will work together. I don't even take my 2 dogs (one a pit bull, one a shepherd mix) out together. 1 person, 1 dog is a much better ratio and easier to control. If you want your 3 big dogs to run together and play, put them out in your backyard. If you don't have a back yard big enough for those 3 dogs you have no business owning that many. And yes, I have a back yard big enough and its doubled fenced. My current dogs have never gotten out short of my son opening the back gate.

Not every boy wants to play with action figures. And I've heard men say they won't buy action figures for their sons because they are 'dolls'. As for my son, who is now 14, I never bought action figures for him because he never asked. Hot wheels, legos, dinosaurs were big as a small child, followed by beyblades and pokemon. And if my son wanted to wear dresses.. I'd buy him kilts. I have to agree over all though, that gender bias is alive and well.

People have been singing different renditions (sounds better than saying she 'changed it') since it was first performed. I hope she continues to sing.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Teen driver charged in Bellingham crash that killed toddler | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Breakin

My deepest sympathy to the family of the killed toddler. I can't even imagine their grief. This is a horrible tragic accident. And the punishment should be based on the level of remorse. I love love love the idea of her doing community service by going around to other schools and telling kids how she was stupid for a moment and took a life forever. But only if she gets that what she did was wrong. The next thing I want to see is that she pleads 'guilty'. She should admit she did it, take house arrest (keeping her away from the ladygangers and wannabes) and then go do a seminar a week until she turns 18. Hopefully she won't plead 'not-guilty'.

"I can't vouch for catholicism because they have perverted God's word." This attitude is what drove me away from christianity. It is so very much a matter of if you don't believe precisely as I do you are NOT a christian. Once christianity was firmly established (recognized by those in power) it was the church of Rome. Catholics were essentially the first christians and everyone after is just reinterpreting to suit themselves. As far as discrimination based on sexual preference and identity, I hope it goes the way of racial and gender discrimination. The generation currently in college will be a driving force for that, I just hope I live long enough to see the laws passed across the country.

"Prosecutors believe modern witchcraft drove a Gold Bar man to kill his girlfriend, dismember her body and scatter her remains around Snohomish County. " I'd love to see the rational there. With this wording they're making it sound like he did it as part of some ritual. Lamesauce. Congratulations on adding more fuel to the division between traditional and non-traditional faiths. Until 'sensationalism' isn't offered up as news, we as a society will continue to be fractured along lines of differences. This was a crime apparently (innocent until ~proven~ guilty boys and girls) committed by another controlling person with anger management issues. His 'justification' of a blood oath is just a pathetic attempt to say it was her fault. About as valid as a rapist saying "She wore those clothes so I knew she wanted it." My heart goes out to her family for lovely woman who's life was tragically cut short. And that is the most important thing people should be thinking.. her life was cut short and that demands justice. I hope justice happens.
