It's topical really. If you're using midget you're almost certainly talking about people, racing, or insects. I think their wishes of being called "dwarf" or "little people" should be honored, I just dont see the need of banning a fairly benign word, unless they're just using the whole thing as a publicity stunt to shed more light on their cause.
