I thank the two in the vehicle for all their help, calling 911, staying there and keeping me safe at the threat of the attackers coming back for them, as the attackers were hiding in the brush on the side of the hill. I learned that prior to me coming up the road that there were two additional vehicles before mine that the attackers had approached. If anyone else was driving up the road around 12:00 am, please realize that this could have been you, your mother, father, spouse, child, or friend. Again, thank you to everyone for their support. It is truly appreciated.

I came to finding myself in the ditch across the street. Dragging myself across the road, they continued to attack me. I was attempting to get back to my car. I knew at this point I was not going to survive this; they were going to kill me over a ride up the hill and cigarettes. Evidently, a vehicle coming down Ellendale scared two of the attackers off. McGowan turned me over, took out my wallet and said he knew where I lived and he would finish it. He hit me one last time in the face, busting my teeth and took off and fell into unconsciousness again. If not for the vehicle approaching, I am sure, with no doubt, these attackers would have killed me.

I immediately pulled over to the side of the road. I got out and stood between the car and the driver's door (with one leg still in the car) and said I couldn’t believe they would do something like this just because I wouldn't give them a ride. Then, I saw a third person come out of the dark behind the right side of my car. I figured he was the one that hit my car and as I turned to him and said I expected an apology, I was struck in the head by McGowan, fell to ground and was knocked unconscious. As I was coming to, I could feel the kicks and the hitting of with something and realized it was three skateboards. On my knees, I managed to grab the wheels on McGowan's board. He jerked it from my hands and struck me square in the face. As I was going unconscious again, the words from McGowan were, "Kill the," and he said some words I can't say here. I blacked out again.

I was coming around the corner and McGowan jumps out in front of my car. I couldn't go left. I couldn't go right. I had no choice but to stop. I thought something might have been wrong, however, I realized very quickly there was no emergency. McGowan then, very aggressively, asked for a ride and I declined as I saw Browning coming out of the dark in front of the car. He then stood next to McGowan. McGowan demanded cigarettes and I told him no. At no time did I see any skateboards and they never said they wanted a ride so they could skate back down the hill. Seeing McGowan's demeanor, I said I can't and drove off. Within 10 to 15 feet, the rear right side of my car gets hit with something.

I am the victim of this crime. Thank you so much to everyone who has been supportive and it looks like there are plenty of you. Don Hawkins
