Excellent. Aggies and Longhorns can certainly stand side-by-side on THIS one!

FYI ... here's the website promoting Pelosi's Houston speaking engagement tonight: http://www.progressiveforumhouston.org/index.htm

Pelosi Protest in HOUSTON (reminder for TX Gulf Coast patriots) ....
----------------------

http://houstontps.org/

Our Pelosi Protest will be starting at 6:30, Friday June 12th, in front of the Wortham center by Jones Plaza where we had our Tax Day event. She will be starting her event at 7:30.

The Theme of the Protest is “Pelocchio“.

A Document showing where to find parking downtown can be downloaded here.
Be prepared to pay for parking.

This is an entirely peaceful protest. The best way to show displeasure is simply showing up in sheer numbers and having a resulting headline in the news. Please help keep a good reputation for Houston Activism. Now for the important serious stuff.

Signs cannot be on sticks and poles. This is a city rule, as they are something that could be used as a weapon. Please keep signs tasteful, no threats, racism… etc… be smart and clever! Please no sound amplification.

We cannot block traffic or pedestrians. Absolutely do not directly engage anyone. No harrassment, accosting, threats, or throwing anything at anyone. Don’t make anyone into a martyr.

We must be fluid and may need to move around. Organizers and Volunteers from ours and other local Tea Party organizations will be trying to help direct and keep order in the crowd.

Please help publicize! Forward this e-mail to your friends, invite people to our facebook event, call radio stations!

More than anything, I'm taken aback by the fact that so many people were audacious enough to ask you for whom you were voting. Are you kidding me? My answer would've been: I prefer not to discuss my personal voting decisions with you.

That being said: Certainly ethnicity was an issue for some people (read this salient diary from RedState.com: http://www.redstate.com/blackandright/2009/03/10/... ); but I refuse to believe the race card was an issue for all. Obama was an extremely liberal candidate with the voting record to back his extremist ideology. There was zero doubt that, black, white, purple, or green, he wasn't going to find favor with a large segment of our populace.

In a nutshell: Anyone who accused you of racism, based on your lack of support for Obama, was a misguided, agenda-driven hater to begin with.

Attaboy, Wrencher. You, sir, are a patriot. And I thank you for your service to our country.

People seem a tad confused, making this a discussion about immigration. And while illegal immigration is admittedly out of control, it's important that folks understand the issue at hand is troops along the US-Mexico border to combat drug-related violence.

Gov. Perry has made an "urgent" call for 1,000 boots on the ground, but Obama says he'll "opt for a different approach," not wanting any kind of "militarization" on the border. Newsflash: This violence isn't going to stop. And if you wait months to take definitive action (as you've indicated), things are going to become much uglier and bloodier than they already are.

So, Wrencher, despite Obama's shiny-happy dream world, I think you can bank on the NG being called up. It's all but inevitable.

While I don't at all disagree with your stance on illegal immigration, that's a different horse in a different race. The current situation deals with putting boots on the ground to deal with potential violence spilling out of Mexico, from drug lords. Former Texas Governor, George W. Bush, is a non sequitur.

In November the The United States Joint Forces Command (USJFC) issued a report stating, among other things" "Any descent by Mexico into chaos would demand an American response based on the serious implications for homeland security alone."

We're not yet to the point where the drug lords have flagrantly crossed the border; but it's coming. Imminently. And if it's not the job of the federal government to protect its citizens against guerrilla acts of warfare, for the life of me, I cannot itemize one additional purpose for them.

If Obama wants Texas to "handle things" on its own, that's fine. We can, and we will. But at that point, not one additional penny needs to leave Texas for Washington, D.C.

The Mexican military? Get out of where?

But here's the thing, Sunny: We are part of a nation. We provide an immense amount of profit, prosperity, and betterment to our nation. When the federal government ceases to protect ... that's a damn slippery slope.

The Texas Declaration of Independence (1836) said it best: “When a government has ceased to protect the lives, liberty, and property of the people…and…becomes an instrument in the hands of evil rulers for their oppression….it is a…sacred obligation to their posterity to abolish such government, and create another in its stead.”
