Thus it should not require both eyes to see the sterescopic image. I have to remember to try this out when I next go see a 3D film. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't great. Maybe I was overhyped by all the great reviews, I don't know. ***SPOILERS*** Nero was a very typical one dimensional villain. I didn't really care much for the characters and thus felt little excitement. Weird plot movement; transport from the ice planet and parachuting through the atmosphere with no heat build-up. Set pieces felt too forced; the monster on the ice planet (completely unnecessary and added nothing to the movie) and the apparently highly dangerous romulan bridge which seemed to consist of various narrow platforms above a gaping chasm. Also the young James drive stunt is a scene that was strange and unnecessary. The destruction of Vulcan felt hollow, it felt like a barren planet with only a few inhabitants. And yes, lens flare overload which I didn't really care for. I just came back from the theater so there's probably a lot of stuff I'm forgetting. It was an alright movie, no must see unfortunately.
