Big Hollywood : Catholics vs. Communists

Where did Jesus take the apostles to make his "you are the Rock" statement? Look it up. There is a reason for the choice of location, of course. I don't need to "analyze" my beliefs like I analyze my belly button lint - far greater men than you or I have already done so (I could list the saints.....) Consider that whatever you have divined about the Catholic church is deliberate anti-Catholic misinformation, or holding ancient happenings to modern standards. Go watch some EWTN, or browse Catholicanswers.com.

The church WILL hold the line on Abortion, because it already has. The Catholic church (or the Pope) cannot change something that is already settled and iron clad such as this. I have absolutely no fear of this. The Pope has no power to change course on settled beliefs/faith/moral issues. Non-Catholics who are either misinformed (on purpose) or just ignorant of what it means for the Pope to speak "ex cathedra" think it is possible for the church to change, but they are of course completey wrong. Also, It is only so-called Catholics, "cafeteria" as we call them, who support abortion. They are not Catholics, they are "cultural catholics" who like a good Catholic church wedding with all the bells and whistles, or a nice white dress for their daughter at their first communion, because they like impressive outfits LOL. Have no fear, the Church will right itself.

If you don't fight to keep the Catholic church from going "progressive", then so-called Catholics like Pelosi and the Kennedys have won. Do you want that to happen on YOUR watch? And leaving the Catholic church is like saying "you win" right to Nancy's face. Don't be a wimp - fight on, brother. As others have said here, pick a parish that is conservative, with one of our rockin' young priests that are the opposite of the old 60's radical fools that are now retiring. Which church did Jesus start? The Catholic church. Has the Holy Spirit kept it going for 2000 years? Indeed. Why would it do so for 2K years and then stop? Answer, it hasn't it's just working through people like me, and hopefully you, to right things.

All may not be lost on the younger generation, but Justin Freaking Timberlake getting an award over the video for "Hurt" proved that all was certainly lost in the den of idiots that is MTV. And nothing has changed there since.

Big Hollywood : Remembering a 'Sweet' Little Birthday

We had a VHS of this flick - and watched it, oh, 100 times at least. I remember cracking up when Sam's dad has his fatherly advice-giving "talk" with her, and every cut between he and she, his hair is different. It also cemented the 1984 Porsche 944 as a cool car forever, as it was driven by Jake Ryan himself. I can call my friends or family and quote virtually any line and they start laughing immediately. You know what, I think my non-sensical out-of-nowhere text messages to friends tomorrow will consist entirely of lines from this move.

Big Hollywood : Excuse Me, Your Leftism is Showing

The national news media is a lost cause, as we are all well aware. I attented a rally by accident. I was driving through downtown and suddenly there were people everywhere. The number of people was astounding, in the thousands. And the LOCAL media was present - all outlets represented. So when the citizenry sits down at night to watch the news, they usually watch the local and national - back to back. So most of them DID hear about it, and most likely know people who went (I excitedly told all my relatives how I signed the giant sized copy of the Declaration of Independence) A giant crowd of people is still news in middle America!

Big Hollywood : Jon Stewart and Kumar Go to D.C.

If I lived anywhere near where they tape this show (or Letterman) I would somehow get tickets and be "the jerk" in the audience. They would wind up tossing me out, you could be sure. Why not make this a pastime, a trend in thought-police disobedience and mischief? Calling all gutsy conservatives to crash this buffoon's show (and letterman) and shout things out like "not funny" or "You're a jerk" or "That oops I just farted look on your face is getting old!" C'mon gujys, where's the spirit? Where's the guts? This could be the greatest night of our lives.....

Big Hollywood : 'Oh Dear,' Miley Cyrus is Closer to the Lord

Have you guys ever watched Miley's show? More than once? I watch it all the time with my kids, and guess what - It's an entertaining, funny show. The older kids are getting to the phase where they think Miley's not cool enough (or rather, they are too cool for Miley) but then they'll be in the living room with it on, laughing away. Or I'll hear the Best Of Both Worlds CD's coming from their room. Sure, the Disney marketing experts are working their magic, and they are very good at what they do - milking the product for as long as they can. But it's decent, clean entertainment from a kid with lots of talent. I hope she steers clear of the pitfalls - and I predict I'll be taking a vanload of kids to her movie this weekend. Favorite Miley episode - when Billy Ray mocked himself in a contrived mullet moment. LMAO on that one.

Big Hollywood : Digital Killed the Radio Star

The true artists are still out there you just don't know about them. Their talent is drowned out due to the sheer volume of hacks across the nation. A real life example: A fellow named Christian Lane (resident of Los Angeles, transplanted from Chicago) Incredibly talented, he like so many others like him has kind of been dragged into the internet age. His music is out there, it is wonderful stuff - but why/how would you click on his page, verus the other 90,000? When he plays a live show, people are walk away thinking it was really special - which is very hard to do in L.A. - but then their attention is immediately shifted elsewhere. They might tell their friends, but as we have all come to realize, friends ain't what they used to be. Everyone has thousands of so-called friends on their social networking page - and we have become conditioned to give any communication from there .5 seconds of time. Which brings us back to true word-of-mouth spreading the message from your few real friends - people whose words delivered in person, that you actually pay attention to. Exactly where we were 20, 30, or 40 years ago. The more things change, the more it stays the same.

Big Hollywood : Letterman = Uncool

Letterman hasn't been funny since I was in high school, and that was over 20 years ago. He hasn't changed at all. So stale. So lame. He's just a east coast alternative to Leno, kind of like the Mets versus the Dodgers - who the heck cares? And what about the genre in general? How long ago was the opening monologue-interview guests-lame jokes format invented? He hasn't done anything that wasn't done 50 years ago. No originality, just the same old same old. It's a great thing to have 100 other channels to watch instead.

Big Hollywood : All the Wrong Moves

No parent will ever allow their kids to be dragged off to a goverment re-education camp. Even the lib parents will balk at that. Of course, some will "assume" or "feel" that it must be OK, because Obama never would have signed the law if it wasn't.....but the other 85 percent of parents won't. Of course, then the obamacorps will come and attempt to drag them away by force, and the dad at the very first house will gun them down. The obama-worship media will commence a non-stop campaign against the gun-toting right wingers - after all, they're all crazies who gunned down innocent volunteers......and then they will come for your guns, lest it happen again. What a horror scenario. Coming soon to a theater - no, Neighborhood near you.

I missed this one back in January, I'm glad you reposted. You hit so many nails on the head, you could have built a nice backyard shed. I can't find a single thing I disagree with. It's funny, here in Illinois, aka "the most corrupt state in the Union" - most people are on your side Gary -as long as you're at least 75 miles away from Chicago - aka "New Moscow".
Big Hollywood : The Common Sense of Rush Limbaugh

Ever notice how the libs try to minimize the Rush audience? 20-22 million? Nah, they say, more like "12 million" with no data to back that up. Actually, his listening audience is but a fraction of his fans. Out of all the conservatives I know (hundreds) only a handful actually get to listen to Rush on a daily or weekly basis, because the rest of us are all working hard at jobs where you can't listen to the radio. We're on the phone, in meetings, or just plain in offices where there are no radios. My company, for example has banned internet video and radio because of the bandwidth it sucks up. (people trying to tune in to the EIB network!) We all watched his CPAC speech afterward, on-line. The whole thing. And we were inspired. We all talked about it on monday, and spread the word. The Obama/Carville/Rahm axis of weasel is only awakening the sleeping giant of conservative America. The 2010 campaign starts now.
