Global "perspective" maybe, global governance...forget it. The US has always had a global perspective but one of the major problems we're dealing with is an abdication of our sovereignty by our "leaders", and it's rubbing a lot of people the wrong way. As to the foreclosure issue, we had/have a "ruling class" who essentially forced banks and lending institutions to give out mortgage loans to people who couldn't afford them. Your banks didn't do that. As for health care, you don't have government in the "middle" because you have it at the top and you KNOW there is a migration to the US from Canada for care. NOBODY in the US dies in the street due to lack of health care.

I love Canada and Canadians, one in particular. However, who can name the Canadian PM? How about all the provinces? Where is Winnipeg? Even though they're our neighbors and they're like Americans, Canada is still a foreign country and no doubt they pay as much attention to what's going on here as we do there, so, they simply are uninformed. One of my Canadian friends loves Maobama, but she doesn't know the whole story. There are plenty of people in Canada who do "get it".
