There's a huge difference between revolution and a totalitarian takeover. If these protesters had their way, they would enlist the govt. powers that be to force their will onto the private sector. Note to the Left: Wall Street is not a govt. entity. If you really want a revolution, go to the White House and tell those tax sucking elitist delinquents to get the hell off your lawn.

Like so many of the Boomers that embraced him, Lennon spent a lifetime trying to live down his middle class roots with his working-class-hero posture-- a cartoonish affectation that leftists found romantically appealing. It was something I never took too seriously.

NewsReal Blog : Obama's Speed of Light Incompetence on the Aftermath of OBL's Death

The Dems and their media toads have been spinning this every which-way possible because they're unable to get their collective heads around what's actually happened. They keep trying to construct some politically correct narrative that will somehow satisfy the Left, and there's no way to do it. The uncomfortable truth which libs refuse to confront is that if all of this had happened while a Republican was in office, we'd be seeing round-the-clock condemnation of every aspect of the operation. If Obama really had some guts he would have released this simple statement: "We came, we saw, we pulled the trigger." End of discussion.

NewsReal Blog : Taking a Page from Islamists' Playbook, Anti-Tea Party Radical Demands Beheading of Business Owners

Lendall's unintended moment of irony is rivaled only by his ignorance. His so called French "wealthy arrogant aristocrats" were French lackeys supporting the govt status quo. The revolutionaries in France were fighting against this oppressive govt. system just as America had fought theirs. Leave it to a Leftist to favor the French model over the American one, even if he can't get either one right.

NewsReal Blog : Top 5 Insane Taxes We Are Forced to Pay

Fed, I think you can understand that a Civil Service lifer extolling the virtues of govt. work is hardly a credible endorsement. Just because a Chicago Cubs fan roots for his team doesn't mean they''re good enough to win the pennant. But to the point:: Your selective numbers are deceptively incomplete. Your 2 million figure (closer to 3 million, I think) presumably refers to permanent federal employees who work exclusively for the Executive branch. The GAO will tell you that there are more on the order of 4 million federal employees drawing a paycheck. And that figure doesn't even include the Post Office, BTW. And I find it hard to believe that there are 7.5 million private contractors drawing taxpayer money on a 1099 form. That doesn't smell right. But no matter, govt. work is govt. work regardless of how one reports that income to the IRS. It's on the taxpayers dime in any case. Moreover, anyone with a calculator and online access can compile US Census numbers that will show that over 20 million employees receive salaries exclusively from tax dollars. Yes, we're talking state, local, various govt. agencies, and so forth. But if that isn't govt. work, I don't know what is.

I'm afraid your view of our tax dollars at work is somewhat naive. The number of govt. employees the U.S. employs (above and beyond police, and road pavers) is staggeringly obscene. It's literally in the tens of millions and that doesn't include the military. I don't necessarily recommend this, but you can purchase last year's budget from the Govt. Printing Office. It'll cost you about fifty bucks. Even worse, it's not as interesting as "Atlas Shrugged" and much longer. It comes in a half a dozen volumes and is several thousand pages long. Anyone who could manage to wade their way through this ponderous catalog of bureaucratic excess couldn't possibly conclude we need to be taxed more.

The tax collection process has to be the easiest administrative function that goes on in this country. A monkey could do it. It only takes two very simple steps: 1) Find out where the money is; 2) Take it.
