FOLLOW AND ENFORCE THE LAW! No one can justify what is being done with any facts, figures or fear tactics when the bottom line is the LAW is being IGNORED: Whatever happened to the law (Title 12, Sec. 1831o) mandating that banking regulators take "prompt corrective action" to resolve any troubled bank? The law mandates that the administration place troubled banks, well before they become insolvent, in receivership, appoint competent managers, and restrain senior executive compensation (i.e., no bonuses and no raises may be paid to them). Wish List: Wish # 1 Make it illegal for ALL ELECTED OFFICIALS to receive ANY compensation from ANYONE while running for, in and after their term in office. Abolish Special Interest Groups AND Lobbyists, and immediately apply term limits. ALL elected officials that have accepted money, ‘gifts’, vacations, limo service, use of corp. jets etc. and has, in turn, included ‘earmarks’ those same corps etc., should “resign or commit suicide”.

This was an article from out of the St. Petersburg Times Newspaper. The Business Section asked readers for ideas on "How Would You Fix the Economy?" Dear Mr. President, Patriotic retirement: There's about 40 million people over 50 in the work force; pay them $1 million a piece severance with stipulations: They leave their jobs. Forty million job openings -- Unemployment fixed. They buy NEW American cars. Forty million cars ordered -- Auto Industry fixed. They either buy a house/pay off their mortgage -- Housing Crisis fixed. Seriously, I have heard suggestions that they give out anywhere from $100K to $1M to each LEGAL TAXPAYING CITIZEN. Can anyone tell me why this would not work?

Maybe this is will help shine some light on the ability for congress to 'police itself'. As you may or may not know, they voted at least 6 times AGAINST having an oversight investigation into the Iraq war, this amoung allegations of Billions being spent needlessly and during the time when reports were front page about 'no bid contracts' and Blackwater and Halliburton. Why? I was hoping youd ask. Because at least 150 of them were/are profiting from the war. If they voted for an oversight investigation, that would mean they would be pointing the finger right at themselves! No, we can't expect them to do it, WE THE PEOPLE must do it.

SUCCESS! We want this effort to be successful, RIGHT? Mother Theresa said it as good as anyone can. She said she would NEVER attend an ati-war rally, but hold a peace rally and I'll be there. In other words, if you want to change something you don't like, don't be against it but be FOR the opposite. Any energy spent fighting something gives it strength, aounds strange but it's true. Don't like war? Don't be anti-war, be PRO PEACE. Be PRO 9/12, EMBRACE IT, LIVE IT, LIVE BY EXAMPLE and the energy funneled into this will most definately drown out the opposite and indeed will ultimately attract even the most sceptical!

Well said! My sister home schooled for many years and has some terrific kids! Testing home schooled kids has proven that they are above the standards set by the government. Think about this, the public school system programs us to be obedient, non-thinkers as a whole. Here is what I mean, we go to school M-F and as long as we can remember fairly well, we are rewarded with a good grade (sometimes our parents even reward us even more with money!). Then we graduate and enter the workforce, our teacher is replaced by a boss and our report cards are replaced by a paycheck! So, who really benfits from public schools in the long term? Corp America AKA the ones who run our country (via paid off congress people).

Problem: We have representaives who gain personally from decisions they make in office. It is NOT possible to make an unbiased 'in the best interests of the country' decision when you have a personal stake in that decision - PERIOD! SOLUTION: Remove ALL those who have profited from decisions they made concerning the Iraq War (because it is a good place to start) then pass and ENFORCE laws that make it ILLEGAL for ANY represenative to profit in any way from any decsion they make - PERIOD. In addition, they must not be allowed to leave office and go to work for ANY company that has any government contracts after leaving office, nor can they receive ANYTHING from any of those companies - PERIOD. If this 'door' alone were closed, think about what a better place our country would be!

Leaders are and will emerge, Glenn is one of them, thank you Glenn it takes unwaivering conviction of the heart to do what you have done so far. How about a theme song: Conviction of the Heart by Kenny Loggins. What we need to focus on here is NOW! Right NOW there are around 150 congressional represenatives who have and/or are PROFITING from the Iraq war! It is time to CLEAN HOUSE and starting with those 150+ is a great place to start. When I served in the US Air Force, I oversaw civilian contractors and verified they did their job. I was reminded time and again that if I so much as allowed the contractor to buy me a lunch or dinner, I would be kicked out with a Bad Conduct Discharge! So, here we have the "Law Makers' who told me NOT to accept ANYTHING of Value from a contractor or it would be a Conflict Of Interest, doing exactly that, and MORE. They are making decisions based (in many cases) on what personal benefits they would receive from that decision! So, OUT THEY GO! and with that new laws that are as strick for 'them' as they are for anyone else, like the military.
