KOMO - Seattle, WA : Dutch delay 13-year-old sailor\'s worldwide trip | KOMO News - Breaking News, Sports, Traffic and We

Well, I would want a little more than a 26 foot boat if I am going to be crossing any oceans... From the pictures I have seen of Guppy, it doesn't look like a boat that was designed for blue water sailing.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Microsoft apologizes for changing race in photo | KOMO News- Seattle, Washington| Technology

Why is this a big deal? Clearly MS decided to run this ad in a country that doesn't have many black people in it, but they didn't want to re-shoot the ad campaign. Without the original photo to compare the altered one to, the hand coloration is hardly noticable; I thought it was just in a shadow. Give it a rest...

KOMO - Seattle, WA : McGinn: I will stop money for waterfront tunnel | KOMO News - Seattle, Washington | Local

I agree. McGinn is a neighbor of mine, but I won't be voting for him. It is too bad since having the mayor as a neighbor can only be good for my property value:) The tunnel wasn't the viaduct replacement that I favored, but stopping the project will not solve anything; not even the high price tag. We will get into a long debate followed by a planning process, and in the end, we have an even worse solution. On top of that, after the years go by, the "new solution" will cost at least as much as the tunnel that is on the table now.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : New rules proposed for boats near orcas | KOMO News - Seattle, Washington | News

My guess is that you probably wouldn't be held responsible in that situation. The rules are most likely geared toward controlling boat traffic in areas like the west side of San Juan Island. The whales pass that area almost every day, so a lot of boaters sit there to watch the whales and at times it can be crowded.

Orcas will still be accessable even with these rules in place. The area along the coast of San Juan Island sees a great deal of whale activity, and the whales are very close to shore which is where most people go to view them. Kayaks are also used by many people in that area to get closer to the pods. I'm not sure, however, if these new rules will add restrictions to kayaks or not, but it is a real experience to be at water level when an orca surfaces right beside you:)

Your comment doesn't make a lot of sense. Perhaps you didn't notice that the robbery happened in Shoreline; the police just caught up with the suspect in North Greenwood. This incident won't give police any reason to put more patrols in the Greenwood neighborhood.

Terminal 91 is not in a residential area; it is adjacent to a huge train that I would wager make more noise on a more consistent basis than these cruise ships do. The area is subject to the industrial area noise ordinance.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : In Seattle, the dead are still parking | KOMO News - Seattle, Washington | Local

I understand that disabled people often have limited incomes, but I take issue with the fact that having a disabled parking permit automatically grants the bearer free parking. If financial need or mobility are the considerations behind this policy, then those issues should be taken into account when each individual permit application is evaluated. Having a disability may, but does not necessarily, affect a person's ability to pay for parking at a meter. A blanket policy such as this effectively states that all disabled people are poor and wheelchair bound; we all know this is not the case. The idea that a person should be given the privilege of free parking simply because they "have to live with a disability" (from your previous post) is ludicrous. There must be a demonstrable need.

I'm sorry, but why shouldn't handicapped people pay for parking? I realize that mobility is an issue for many who legitimately have a disabled parking placard, but for those unable to use the meters, there are alternatives the city could use; phone in payments and grace periods .

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Dirt-weary Spokane turns to bootleg detergent | KOMO News - Seattle, Washington | Local

I'm right there with you on the Kirkland Signature laundry detergent. Costco used to sell a different environmentally friendly laundry detergent called Ecos, but they got rid of it when they came out with their own brand. Thankfully, they recently started to carry this product again. I would definitely recommend Ecos to anyone (whether they are looking for an environmentally friendly detergent or not). I used to be a Tide user, and Ecos is an equivalent cleaner. I have yet to have a situation where I have been disappointed. Sorry for the advertisement, but it really is a good product (I don't work for Ecos).
