World In Conversation : How has your opinion changed on illegal immigration?- 119 Blog

I think more than people trying to come to this country, we should be helping them want to get back to theirs. I know Sam said most immigrants want to go back home someday, but they shouldn’t have to flee their country in the first place! And then maybe they’re here too long and start to feel out of touch with their own culture. And on the topic of assimilation into culture I am also mixed on the subject. I do believe if you come into someone else’s country you should learn their language and customs, but at the same time be able to proudly and openly promote yours as well. Any way you look at it, you have to deal with immigration. We might not know the proper way to deal with it yet, but something has to be done. Whether you care about it or not, it affects you so you better start caring! This issue is not going away anytime soon and will only get more prevalent in the coming years so I think it’s time we decide to do something about this and not have this be a dark part in our history books.

On the other hand I still believe that if someone makes it into this country and becomes legal they should be treated just like regular citizens, hell even if they are illegal they’re still human beings! I hate the whole us vs. them mentality, not just the U.S. but every territory seems to have a complex that they’re better than everyone else. First of all we live in the same country, on the same planet, in the same galaxy, in the same universe, so get over yourself! I just don’t like it when people to make themselves out to be SO different from everyone else what they stop seeing the similarities. I mean it’s all fine and dandy to be an individual, that’s what being you is all about, but still know that you are part of a whole much larger than yourself.

Yes it has and for the more balanced. I used to be all for immigration because I thought there was nothing wrong with it, at all. But now knowing more about it, I can think more rationally about it. Since this country was founded off of immigration I thought that’s how our system worked. What I didn’t know was that when people try to get into the country and they stay there the space (that is limited) everyone cannot co-exist with limited resources. I would love for everyone to come to America and live there dream not dread if they’ll make it another day in their native homeland. But sadly in reality everyone cannot live in the same area where the population outweighs the landmass. It just can’t work like that!

World In Conversation : What do you think of the 29:1 statistic and what number would you pick?- 119 Blog

In fact that’s a great idea, I feel like most people don’t know about this number and if they did they’d be outraged, causing the military to do something to improve their weapon technology. I mean we’ve come a long way in the advancement of science and technology, why not have Iron Man tech that can lock on to any object you wanted it to. But until then all I can do is just hope that there aren’t as many corrupt soldiers killing and raping civilians and that the future of war is none...

In my perfect scenario of war soldiers on both sides would all go to a remote land mass and duke it out there, no innocent by standers, nothing holding you back! That’s what I like about back in the day, the weapons might have been crap but most of the time you had to be face-to- face with your enemy and TRY to kill him. Now a day’s anyone can just push a button and kill an entire population of people. I know this only a pipe dream, but think of how honorable it would be, one-on-one, just you against them. I hate to see wars break out in the first place, but I understand why people feel they have to fight and if indeed you do have to fight do it honorably. That number just stayed with me for awhile even when I think about it now it makes my blood boil! I want to run up in Army Bases and just start wailing on people and shouting “29:1!” over and over again. But that would not solve anything, it would only cause more civil unrest, but maybe then the general public you be exposed to this staggering figure.

29:1 is an unforgivable statistic! Even if it was 1:29, even one innocent casualty is too many! I can’t see how people still fight knowing that they’re killing that many people. I honestly couldn’t do it, sure you’re not looking them in the face, but to live with that notion that you took the lives of 29 people for every 1 bad guy you kill, I could never live with myself. Now I understand that weapons don’t discriminate and bullets hurt everything in their path, and the missiles we drop are very effective at destroying our enemy without “our” soldiers dying, but the military should really consider how efficient their weapons are. In a perfect world we would all have Tony Stark’s Iron Man suit with auto target bullets, but it’s not and we don’t. So as human we may be imperfect, but trying to improve on those imperfections it’s always the best option, especially in this case!

With all that said I can’t entirely blame them because I would fight back as well if my people were being destroyed! I’m a very protective person in the first place so with the magnitude of the massacre going on in the Middle East I couldn’t 100% guarantee that I wouldn’t take up arms. But I wouldn’t be a full blown terrorist like the Taliban, but more of a Guerrilla freedom fighter. Because I could not possible sit idly by and watch people die right in front of my face, at the same time I would only use force to those who I deliberately try to harm civilians. I feel like attacking every American I see would be just as bad as what we’re doing to them. I hate war because I know without all this conflict all these people would not act like this, I hate what war does to people!

Yes I blame them for being a terrorist because no innocent person should die because you’re angry! If you hate the American army for bombing innocent people then why would you try to harm our innocent? Wouldn’t you rather just hurt the ones that hurt you, or maybe they just want to hurt us more by hurting our loved ones? (Which is working by the way) This back and forth bloodshed will only cause a massive world war and nobody wants that. This is why I wish wars were fought on deserted battle lands where only soldiers were so there wouldn’t be any casualties; it would be way more honorable! Just engaging your enemy in combat, no distractions! Another reason I can’t support terrorism is it doesn’t help your pain or solve the problem. I honestly believe if you fight for only revenge only you’ll never be satisfied. So yeah anyone threatening civil living (foreign or domestic, because anyone can be a terrorist) and plans to terrorize people I will never forgive you and do deserve to die, not for revenge for the US, just for the sake of justice!

I’ve heard Sam’s TEDTalk before so I was ready for this class and I was still as much affected by the subject matter! And just to address two other blog post’s really quick: Not one life is worth that of an evil person, learn how to be better and FIX THAT SHIT! And two, yeah I don’t think it was one of if not the best class of the semester. Now whether I blame them for being terrorist is a strictly yes and no answer.

To wrap this up I think that both parts were equal good, I just liked hearing stuff about the opposite gender because I didn’t know it before. And I think everyone needs to adapt this attitude in order to create a world where everyone sexual needs are met. This is not an easy path and will take time, but I believe if we do continue teaching each other only good will come/cum of it.

Which leads me to my next topic, I feel like society doesn’t focus on a women’s body. Yes we see half naked women everywhere that we as guys want to “bang” them, but we don’t understand her body! This lays the problem, guys want the poster girl, hyper-sexualized always ready for a good time and that is not the reality. Guys need to learn what a real woman is and then try to please her. Yeah I’m sort of a modern day gentlemen, so I’ve been doing this sort of thing my whole life, sadly it really doesn’t work in practice. But in general I loved the whole talk; it was just eye opening to learn so much about women. Well maybe not that much. In the words of my one friend commenting on how he felt with talking about race, “Yeah it was really interesting, but most of it I kind of already had a grasp on in the first place.” With that said I still very much enjoyed it and I believe everyone needs to have this talk. Anyone who is sexual active or who plans on becoming sexual active (including myself) needs to hear this talk!

To me defiantly the female talks were way more interesting to me! As a guy I really want to try to understand the world from a women’s point of view, every though I will never fully, it’s still nice to try to put yourself in someone else’s shoes. I sat this knowing that plenty of men “say” this, but don’t really mean it, or most of the general male population only cares about themselves. I plan to change that viewpoint from most women who think that all men are like this. I’m not the perfect person for this conversation, seeing as I’ve never had sex, but after years of looking at couples and hearing about stories I know I don’t want the normal relationship. Ever since I wanted to be with a girl I never really thought about just pleasing myself. I always thought it would be way better if I got the woman off, and apparently I was right! Its sad most dudes’ just care about their needs, or even if they try to do the right thing they can’t because they don’t know a women’s body.

I myself haven’t been in an interracial relationship, I’ve never been in any relationship for that matter but I’d like to think my first one would be. I think at this point being able to sit back and watch so many relationships I’ve seen that race is the last thing that a couple cannot stay together. Again I think similarities: personality traits, core values, etc. are the real determining factors. In the end I just want a lifelong relationship that everyone was proud of me for.

Now moving on to interracial dating in general, despite what I just said, I’d happily date anyone! As long as she had similar beliefs and values as me, I could kick it with any girl. I mean I’ve seen beautiful girls of all races so it’s not like I don’t think any one race isn’t attractive. And on that topic I think interracial babies are so beautiful and with my ugly mug (okay it’s decent) I need some other pretty girl the balance out. I think my family is “alright” with it, but they’re nowhere near my level of tolerance and acceptance to the fact of mixed grandchildren. It really ticks me off when the people who raised me to be such a good person sit there and say such stupid biases things; I guess it’s just the culture. And in no way do I want to take away from that by dating outside my race, it’s just a very real possibility for me.

So I myself have preferences even in interracial dating, but it’s more of just me. I’m not like every other black man trying to steal white woman (even though I wouldn’t turn one down), I prefer Asian woman! Ever since the age of 5 when I had my first kiss in kindergarten with an Asian girl (her name was Rebecca) I’ve been hooked! I don’t know what it is but something in my brain tells me that they’re prettier and more datable for me even though rationally that makes no sense! But I don’t care I love them anyway. I’m all into the Asian culture: Martial Arts, language (working on it), Anime, food, music, in general I’m just immersed. So it would only make sense that I would want to date an Asian girl.

Honestly I love them! I would rather be in a relationship with someone who was of a different race than me. (I’m Black) Not because I don’t like black women and I don’t think they’re attractive, just the idea of an interracial relationship seems awesome to me! I just love the whole idea of different people coming together and you know they still have the same interest’s, I think that’s the most interesting part for me; so different people can be so alike!

I don’t really feel disintegrated (despite that last comment) I actually used to feel revision, so I guess I’m two kinds of three. The reason is when I learned so much about the Black community and how much stuff we go through and some people are still the way they are pisses me off. Especially black people who continue to perpetuate stereotypes not helping our image at all, I just want to yell at them and tell them how stupid they are because they are the reason everyone else thinks we’re all like that! But now I’ve calmed down and know that there are people like that in every culture.

I also feel like I’m in the Immersion stage. I’m deeply rooted in other cultures. First of all I love Asian people and all my friends know this! I do Martial Arts; I watch Anime/read Manga, love Asian food and prefer Asian girls over all others, nothing racial though it’s just my preference. And people jokingly say I’m really Asian on the inside, that’s why I’m really excited about taking this gene test to see what I am; I know I’m at least 1% Asian I can feel it! On the other hand I know a lot of white people and they call me white, along with everyone else, but I sort of have strife against this one. Not that I don’t want to be white, it’s just that when they call me it I feel like they think I’m white instead of black and that’s really insulting to be because I’m deep into the black culture. So I feel like my immersion has caused a little detachment from my own race in a way.
