The Officer has been given extensive training and has a set of scripted procedures to follow in various situations. They are expected to remain cool under tense situations. The ability of a citizen to film officers in the performance of their duties in public, will provide an unbiased document of what actually happened. The film speaks for itself and allows the judge/jury to decide what actually happened. If the Police don't want their actions filmed, then it begs the question: what are they afraid of, or hiding? The police chief doesn't get it. The Federal Courts said the officer's actions were out of line and illegal. Whether he agrees with it or not, the officer broke the law and I would expect the Police Chief to get behind the *law* and support it. We don't get to pick and choose the laws we feel are valid. The chief shouldn't either. If the filming is done in public, there is no expectation of privacy. If the person doing the filming is a distance away from the conflict, then they aren't interfering with the police action.
