Change.gov : Inside the Transition: Technology, Innovation and Government Reform | Change.gov: The Obama-Biden Tr

My Grandfather was crushed and killed in a coal mine. Every relative I have or had, that is older than me, has/had black lung, even the women from living in the coal camps. The Appalachian mountains are being flattened (<a href="http://www.ilovemountains.org/multimedia/" target="_blank">http://www.ilovemountains.org/multimedia/</a>). All of our rivers in the east are downstream from Appalachia, and they are being filled with heavy metals and poisons from washing coal. These are the problems with coal even before we burn it for fuel. There is no such thing as clean coal. If we put a moratorium on new coal plants there are still enough existing plants to keep coal miners and coal producers working at their current levels. New energy should come from other sources.

Change.gov : Meeting with the Honorable Bev Perdue, Governor of North Carolina | Change.gov: The Obama-Bide

Congratulations to Gov. Perdue and very soon to be President Obama! Also to Senator Kay Hagan! NC is the perfect state to grow the economy in a sustainable manner, a model state in which the desire for public transportation, the desire for green energy, the willingness to support home owned businesses and purchase local food is combined with the finest state elected officials. It&#039;s a win-win situation that should be generously funded as part of the economic stimulus package.

Change.gov : American Civil Liberties Union | Change.gov: The Obama-Biden Transition Team

Dear President Elect Obama, Please stop torture on the very first day. It should be stated clearly that America doesn&#039;t torture and will not tolerate torture. Also, please prevent this from ever happening again. I am but one of the many who knocked on more doors and made more phone calls, than I had the time to do, in order to stop torture, end the war, restore the Constitution, restore civil liberties, and undo the horrible policies of the last 8 years.
