There was a story recently... about a woman in Gold Bar who was causing all sorts of trouble by suing the city left and right. She was an attorney and it sounded like she had personal vendettas with some Gold Bar people on the city council. Sounded like it was all out of control...

Edit:
Here it is.. that didn't take long:

This wouldn't be the first time that a rapist is married with children Mr. Michael Lewis, Sr. Sorry, but even the Green River Killer was married. I'm guessing they are pretty confident they have the right guy, and most likely there is DNA evidence.

Sounds like it might be a woman that is missing. "...only the male friend had returned by late Sunday afternoon...". Yes, I know it sounds incredible, but women climb mountains, and they also become doctors.

Hard to say. How many men have pre-menstrual conditions? ;-)

There aren't many details to the story yet, but reading this, and thinking back to other incidents (like the four people who went missing on the mountain this past January), it seems that a lot of people who get into trouble on the mountain are from out of state or from outside the country. I remember being on the Emmons Glacier a few years ago and talking to some folks from Colorado who were on the mountain for the first time, and they were simply awestruck at the size of the glaciers on the mountain and how intimidating it was. These folks were coming from Colorado where summiting "fourteeners" is a state pastime as there are so many of them in the state. But not one single mountain above 14,000' (and especially below 14,000') in that state can approximate the terrain that one will encounter on Rainier.

I think because so many people summit the mountain every year, many people assume that if you're on one of the more approachable routes, nothing will go wrong; and they get lulled into a false sense of security. I think in this state we are more attuned to the dangers that belie this great mountain because we so often hear of the tragedies that take place there. Perhaps people from out of state wishing to acquire a climber's permit on the mountain should be given extra scrutiny and questioned in greater detail about their climbing background.

My condolences to the family and friends of the ranger who perished on the mountain. (Even though he was not married and did not have children, his life is by no means less meaningful than someone who is married with children. What a strange -- and insensitive -- way to frame one's worth. Our lives are precious. Period.)

Moron. You can get a gun in Canada. Why don't you look it up. The requirements may be more stringent, but there are millions of guns in Canada. In general, things are just a bit more civilized up there.

Crazy huh?! I was wondering how "She was half-naked and her hands and feet were bound with nylon stockings and there was a gag in her mouth" adds up to second-degree manslaughter. Nothing about that seems negligent to me!

KOMO, I think your use of the picture above to open the video quite insensitive. "Swim at your own risk"? No-one was swimming here. It's a horrible tragedy. I feel for the parents, and especially for the brother who was playing with the toddler when he walked off.

Seems rather unsafe to raft a rapidly moving body of water on a water craft that does not have positive buoyancy. Proper "rafts" don't sink even after taking on water. Very lucky man. Not sure how the dog feels though.
