They had links, I had links. So unless if Drake really is > Claymore, Pilgrim, Hurricane, Vigilant & Guardian, there was actually some skill involved and since I died, I am fairly sure you have to agree that they had a (good) chance at killing me.

http://eveoganda.blogspot.com/ : A Fight in Parts

I think you're slightly confused - the Parts BS gang was originally a BC gang we killed who then shipped up whilst we got another Drake to join us. Shadow gang had no Oracle/Rapier/Scimitar that I could see, so it was roughly an even fight - 9 vs 8 at least, possibly 9 vs 9. Morin died an hour prior to the actual fight so the ships on his mail weren't actually there. Fun times though.

I do enjoy flying without the alt but there are so many opportunities you miss if you don't have one around, either to initiate the fight (or gank) or to give you a fighting chance once it actually does start. I play to find as many good fights as possible when I'm on, so it's all about getting as many fights as I can where I at least have a chance and to that end having a boosting alt helps massively. Oh and it's also economical, less losses to 20+ gangs and more kills <3

Yeah I tend not to roam that far nowadays, mostly because I can engage nearly anything I see with a Drake + boosting alt so fights tend to come thick & heavy after a few jumps. I have a better story :). I was fighting a 450M Shield Rifter (who also had HG pirate implants) in my Laser Incursus and was thrashing him when he had to call in a friend in a Falcon to assist him. Rifter managed to kill me as I couldn't web him back to pull range. Much rage that day as he was bleeding into hull when I got jammed.

You can pirate successfully without a probing alt, you just either have to rely on others to bring probes (and get to you) or just ignore anyone running a mission or sitting in a safe spot who doesn't want to fight you (mostly other pirates). Depending on where you PvP, this can be a significant portion of targets you see in space or none at all. For example, probes have reduced use of 0.0 as most PvErs are running anomalies. Personally, I only drop probes with the alt after I've spotted a target with d-scan. Most of the time he's moving ahead or to the side, trying to find more targets.

Rifter Drifter : Rocket Man

I fail at commenting, was supposed to be replying to Delucian's post. Last time I checked Rage vs Armor Frigates did less damage than Faction, but that was a little while ago - my skills have gone up considerably since then. As for your conclusion, I agree. Rocket boats DPS is not that much lower than Turrets, but for a fight where every little counts (picking off tackle before the gang arrives), Rocket can't compare to a gank orientated Wolf or Enyo.

Replace the EANM with a Ballistic Control, the CCC rig for a T2 RoF/Damage rig (only 3M if you can find a decent producer) and you have my fit. The tank goes down, but the DPS goes up remarkably. Also, carry both Rage & Faction rockets! Use Rage vs shield buffer frigates and above, whilst Faction against the rest (Interceptors etc.) due to the Rage rockets having a slower explosion velocity!

http://fleeonsight.blogspot.com/ : Turn up the heat

I always thought heat didn't wrap around, thus putting my neuts in slot 3 & 6 respectively. However, *someone* told me that heat actually does wrap around. Testing ingame reveals you (and I) are indeed correct and this has been fixed.

I don't use the tactical display ever actually, although I probably should! My UI is fairly standard - nothing out of the ordinary. However, I do make extensive use out of zooming in and out mid fight - zooming in for better detail and zooming out for a better overview of what's going on.

I would love to do this, but the best way to do it would be through video and I can't fraps on my machine :( I'll see if I can find some PvP videos out there with some decent manual piloting and then do a commentary on them, if anyone else is interested.

It's not that exciting now compared to what it could be, ala OMS style where there's consistently two or more gangs there at peak times, whereas in Hevrice itself it's incredibly quiet for the most part, with occasionally a gang passing through. Also, stop showing me up! :(

Rifter Drifter : Is It Possible to be Ghetto Fabulous?

You just have to focus on the advantages it has over the Myrm - namely much more resistant to neuts (bigger base cap, bigger cap booster) and much, much more DPS (800 vs ~500) which should offset the reduced tank somewhat.

I'm not sure if you know what exactly he is trying to do - an active tanked Battleship is much, much better than a buffered Battleship for small gang/solo PvP since it will let you tank more over the course of a standard engagement. Not to mention that the non-trimarked buffer on a standard 2-2-2 fit is laughably thin for a Battleship - a mere 90k EHP compared to the (overheated) 76k EHP on Wensley's ghetto-Mega meaning he just has to live for 20 seconds to have a longer tank. Case in point, 2 Drakes could probably gank down your Megathron before they both die, whereas the ghetto-Mega can almost certainly kill them both with little difficulty.

Smartbomb vs Neut is a personal choice, one of the reasons I think the Pest is so great - you don't have to choose between the two!

Probably says more about the importance of those rigs - without them the tank on either a BC or BS is fairly flimsy and can easily be overwhelmed by a single ship of the same class. Might be worthwhile upgrading to T2 scrambler & web since I would imagine you need all the tracking you can get. Also, I would personally go with a neut instead of a Smartbomb due to the number of Cynabals, Vagabonds etc. that you'll fight. I'm looking forward to seeing how you do, I've just started flying Active Battleships myself and their tanks are insane. Also, don't forget damage rigs - dirt cheap and they fit comfortably, as well as pills which are only 3m or so.
