After that, they will be converting their now empty basements and bedrooms into rec rooms, dens and home theaters. Sales of paint, paneling, carpet and new locks are sure to increase. Here's a scenario I hope plays out across America: Slacker child: (speaking on his Iphone) "Mom, I'm home from #Occupy. I can't get in my key isn't working. The lock must be broken." Mom: It isn't broken dear, we changed the locks before we left for our cruise. SC: Cruise? You're on a cruise? There's a recession! How can you afford to go on a cruise? Mom: Since you left to protest capitalism, we saved so much money we were able to afford one. SC: When will you be back? Mom: In about a month. SC: A MONTH!!! Where am I supposed to sleep? Mom: Why, in the park of course, that's where you've been sleeping anyway. SC: What about my room? Mom: Your father turned it into a den with a 60 inch TV and surround sound. SC: What happened to my stuff? Mom: We gave it to the Goodwill, they promised to re-distribute your wealth the the less fortunate. SC: (sobbing) But, but Mommmmmmm!!!! Mom: I have to go now son, I've got an appointment at the spa. One more thing, we canceled your phone plan as of Monday. Bye.
