I'm not sure how you can come to that conclusion if you've really "kept up"! She was speaking FOR, not against, racial harmony and empathy for the poor of all colors.

Breitbart.com : Ag secretary offers Sherrod \'unique\' position

Shame on you all! The videos posted on biggovernment.com were DOCTORED. We have now seen Ms. Sherrod's entire speech, which prove not only that she was making an impassioned speech about racial reconciliation, but also that her NAACP audience did NOT applaud and cheer any purportedly racist remarks. All of you, please apologize immediately for your erroneous reactions. Last night, after hearing the NAACP apologize for jumping to conclusions, I went online and joined the NAACP. Just $30/year. I suggest you do the same. I'm proud to stand up publicly and declare that the NAACP is NOT racist. Those of you who act so horrified by what you perceive as racism on the part of African-Americans, please make sure you first condemn our country's disgraceful history of slavery, segregation, and institutional discrimination against African-Americans...such as the USDA recently admitted to in the settlement of a class-action suit. I am descended directly from racist poor white farmers in Georgia. Believe me, many of them are still racists...unlike Ms. Sherrod and the Spooner family, who came to her defense and revealed that she HELPED them.
