Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : 4/2/09 - 4/9/09

<shaking head in utter disbelief> I keep saying that the educated ones who give a crap are the minority, and Obama is simply taking advantage of that fact. He's the puppet on some very twisted and frayed strings, and until enough people get tired of it, we are going to continue to be astonished at how fast we fall. I only pray to God that I'm wrong - that most people aren't as stupid or complacent as I think they are - and that we can vote ourselves out of this mess in the next couple of elections.

Woo-hoo!! I just love it when people hold others accountable, and Neil Cavuto is the latest to do so. Check out this video of him grilling the rep that put the salary cap proposal on the table for bailed out execs... This was on FBN and was aired yesterday. The quality isn't great, but you get the message loud and clear. Go Neil !!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgVAUCL8dQw

Because they're hired and kept there by the same people that feel entitled and want the government to take care of them. Firing a poor politician is what a rational person would do via voting. I fear, however, that rational thought is now in the minority.

Watch this video, and you'll have answered your own question. Obama is just another puppet, and creating chaos is exactly what's needed to get a global banking system and global army. How many times have you heard in the past few months that it almost seems as if Obama (and administration) are destroying our country on purpose? Again - watch the video. It's long, but there's a lot of good info. There are parts that lean a litte too much on the conspiracy side, and the ending is a bit too fluffy, but overall, excellent video posted by gTex. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-63340051...

Excellent, gTex - Thank you so much for posting this video! I wish I could meet more people who think like this. Instead, we get intolerance and venom-spitting on both sides. THINK, PEOPLE!!! Quit reacting with emotions and truly live the principles you are currently espousing. If you want free speech, then respect people who are equally as charged as you on the flip side of the coin of an issue. If you engage people in a pissing match to try and convert people to your point of view, you will never win. Instead, you will only further frustrate yourself and others. Quit pushing your morals and religion on others. Instead, engage in a healthy debate on what we can do get our government to abide by the very constitution that protects us in having our own views.

POd - 100% agree. Perhaps we should start a new forum somewhere else, with actual topics and categories so that people who want to waste their (and our) time talking about issues that clearly only God can make a final determination on can do it in another category. As for me, I'd rather focus on the very clear fact that our country will no longer be if we don't quit venting and start doing.

Agreed! And this forum could use a major overhaul as well. You can't search for topics, don't know where your posts go, can't find people who may have replied, etc. Not a well-designed site at all.

We need a different forum!!! This one sucks - you can't find your message, don't know if anybody responded, the sorts don't seem to work at all, and there are no discernable categories. Get a new forum so we can have more effective discussions and use of our time!

Flat tax (i.e. pay a fixed % regardless of income) - Again simple but runs the risk of encouraging inequality for lower income people because $100 to somebody earning $20,000 a year is much more meaningful than $100 to somebody with a large income. In other words, the marginal value of money is higher for lower income people. However, a flat tax reduces penalties against productive behavior such as work, risk taking, and entrepreneurship. To compensate for inequities, a scale of income and household size could be used, and persons/families under a certain income thresshold would not need to pay at all. Personally, I'm for the flat tax.

I've seen a lot of healthy, spirited debate about Flat vs. Fair tax on this site, and I just want to put in my two cents: Fair tax (i.e. tax on what's consumed) - Although simple, this may not be fair and will only turn whatever is left of our capitalist, entrepreneurial nation into a nation of bartering and trade. If somebody needs to purchase a new refrigerator and is facing a 23% tax, s/he will simply go to Craig's List and trade something so that no tax is paid. Now how is that going to help support some of our vital government functions? Also, it's shown that the higher one's income, the less they consume (typically speaking because a high earner is at a point in life where they have most of the essentials they would ever want). So this would, in effect, allow the rich to get richer and leave the middle and lower income classes bearing the burden. (cont'd on next post)

As for Fargo... that's a joke as well. I live in Minnesota. Although I do find it heartwarming to know that friends and neighbors are helping each other out, it should never have come to that in the first place. How many times has the Red River Valley flooded? How many weeks ago did we know this was a real possibility? When will local gov't learn to prepare in ADVANCE? Just like the federal government, the Fargo and Moorehead brain trust reacts amid chaos rather than think to prepare for the inevitable well in advance. They could have worked all last year (at a normal pace) to fill and store bags of sand knowing that this would come again. Oh, and by the way, that could have provided jobs to folks who otherwise were collecting welfare checks and wondering what happened to their America.

Unlike you, I have very little faith in the majority of the American people. We are, unfortunately, the enraged minority. After all, it was the majority that voted in this joke of an administration. Most "Americans" can't name the Speaker of the House, don't know what an Amendment is, let alone what they mean, and fell for "Hope" and "Change" hook, line, and sinker. Call me cynical, but I really question just how much of a minority we really are. I'm glad I have a place to discuss important things and feel like I am among my peers, but.... not sure it will do much good at this point unless we actually do more than complain. I really don't have any solutions or action items yet. I already live the principles and values - I have since I can remember because that's what my hardworking and honorable Dad taught me. So what next?

We are not the moral police of the the world - we are the protectors of our country. Period. If you want to repent or feel guilty for something, do it on your own time. As for me, I make no apologies whatsoever for our military having to do what's necessary to protect us from those that want to kill us. The next time you are faced with a terrorist, ask yourself if it could have been avoided by allowing whatever means necessary.
