Kate is standing on a) Brexit - getting it done and b) bringing back and getting the domestic abuse Bill that had to be suspended due to the GE, as well as the range of Conservative manifesto issues. This is in no way bottling it. This is the local Conservative Association doing the right and proper thing. Selecting a local candidate. Selecting a woman. Selecting a person who has supported the local Association for many years.I am really pleased with this outcome.

We do. We tried to ensure he would not stand but he has a big ego. we will try again tonight when he has the right as the sitting MP to put his name forward for consideration alongside the other candidates. It was an equal vote for and against his reselection last night namely due to a lot of newly recruited members of the church where he has recently found God who do not understand the situation. It means he was not selected but we have to vote for another candidate tonight. We will do our best to get someone who will do a creditable job representing Burton and Uttoxeter and outlying villages.

But not forgotten simply Brexit is a path by or through which those other concerns are more likely to be achieved.
The problem is that another extension will not save the economy from damage.We have had 3 years of going round in circles with increasing entrenchment and hardening of opinions and more time just will not be of any help whatsoever.
I dont see any evidence that the party is actually more right leaning. What is happening is that the opposition parties are all moving from central to much more left leaning political stances - Labour, Greens and the SNP especially but also the Liberal party. This is why there are shouts (and that is another current problem in that people think if they shout loud enough they will get their own way) that the Conservative party is becoming more right wing - Ken Clarke actually said that in yesterdays motion to take control debate..The party is not of becoming more right wing because it has removed the whip from the MPs who did not support it on a confidence vote, nor for expelling civil servants who leak information, nor for trying to maintain control over the negotiations for a deal with the EU and definitely no evidence in the plans for investment in infrastructure. And if this is now the definition of right wing I think we need more of it.

Absolutely the same experience here. Everyone I know is ready for us to leave on 31st Oct - a good deal or no deal. Even friends who voted to remain just want an end to the game playing. Boris is right to say its 31st Oct come what may.
