Fix, Jailbreak iPhone 3GS 3.1.0, 3.1.1, 3.1.2 For those of you having trouble with your iPhone 3GS 3.1.x out of the box,, 1. Sync with itunes, 2. Use blackra1n to jailbreak (doesnt need to be your primary jailbreaker, but is used to bypass Apple's boot load security block). find / download blackra1n on the www. 3. Then make a custom firmware using pwange tool, or find a custom version.( if on AT&T dont click activate in pwange) 4. Use itunes, shft+Restore,(PC), or opt+restore(MAC). no need for dfu or restore mode.(for more info, ck this forum) 5. When iTunes ask, click - setup as new phone, 6. When complete - Sync iPhone to iTunes. Done... you now have a jailbroke 3GS 3.1.x , with Cydia and or Icy, and your stuff back,, +/-. "if you had RockApp, just install, then restore all of your non Apple apps. Don't know about unlock, per Dev Team, it is not available yet... Notes: " this has been tested on a Apple store bought iphone 3GS 32GB bought in Oct of 2009.,,, using AT&T service ,,," " Signal, Carrier logo, Batterie, E, 3G, WiFi, = all good "

So Finally, I chose to use blackrain, the last resort for someone like me....didnt want to use, but it hasnt hurt, runs good, power use is almost the same from out of the box,.. as i used RockApp to restore all apps i owend from the 2G, 3G, and iPod's. so some apps are running in the background at times... so 3.1.4 is not ready and should have an RC1 tag to it.. as a beta,,, Blackrain worked without a hitch, cydia now has a shsh for me. rockapp has transfered all licenses, iphone 3gs , 3.1.2 (7D11), network at&t, carrier at&t 5.6, modem firmware 05.11.07. , oh yea , and used the mms setting the stock sms app uses for swirlymms2 to work... In all,, hope devteam continues there xclent work, as im sure blackrain, most likely, wouldnt have be able to..

My Struggle.. iPhone 3GS 3.1.1 out of the box. activated through itunes(latest Version 9.0.1.8) and sync several times, went through 2 carrier updates... pwange tool 3.1.4 , couldnt get jailbreak, no matter the method(s) on the www. thought maybe updating to 3.1.2, would help in the jailbreak, Nope... all methods resulted in dfu freeze, recovery freeze, pwange using macbook pro couldnt see the iphone - to put into dfu, got codes, 1600,1601,1604 and a couple others, on restoreing through itunes, wether shift or command on MAC or PC ,,,(own both). several custom firmwares made for both versions iPhone2,1_3.1.1 , iPhone2,1_3.1.2. and several hours on research and attempts....
