The linkage of government and solution has been brainwashed into the American psyche for 100 years, with the Progressives. Just the opposite is as axiomatic as mass and gravity in Physics. First of all, 45 million not insured is a bogus claim. Eliminate illegal aliens and those that opt no to carry insurance and that number whittles down to one third. Assuming even that number is intolerable, providing insurance coverage does not mean health care. Health care and insurance are not synonymous terms. In Soviet Union everyone there had health care but were afraid to access it. Hospitals and doctors were feared not sought after. Forcing those that opted out (mostly young people) into the system so that they can subsidize others will not mean health care. We do not have enough supplies of hospitals, doctors, nurses and other health care professionals to provide the services without impaired quality. Look at VA and Medicare. There are many doctors that opt out of taking Medicare patients, mostly over 65 crowd. Why? The government payments to the doctors for their services do not cover their costs and worth their time. Government insurance is not the answer. Many say that health care costs make our companies not competitive because of the costs. That is true. The solution is not more government. As a matter of fact, the government taxation of small businesses and corporate taxes (one of the highest in the world) are also killing the competitiveness. Solution is to let the health care become a commodity. We all need food to live just as importantly as health care. We don&#039;t have food insurance. Get rid of insurance except for major illness. Let the employers pay a fixed percentage of wages as health care directly to the employee or pay into a can-only-spend-for-health-care account. People then buy insurance for catastrophic illness and seek medical help in other cases as they would get their hair cuts etc. In addition, introduce loser&#039;s attorney pay all the expenses in medical malpractice cases. Get rid of the trail lawyers scam. The insurance that the people buy can be portable and can be from any state or outside the US. Those that can not pay for their insurance, let the government pay into that account as a fixed amount. It can not be used for any other purposes. The amount is fixed so that the people can only buy catastrophic insurance with it. Make the health care costs before tax deduction. In order to make that happen, cut the government spending by a comparable amount. Cut the business taxes. It would immediately accelerate economic growth. Cut government spending again to compensate.
