Go! Gaming Giant : Borderlands Skill Calculator Now Available

Taken from the website in question: "This is a pre-release version of the Borderlands Skills. All data is based on incomplete data and will change as more information is confirmed" Right there. And even if the site never updated, this would still be useful for giving you a rough idea of things, despite not knowing the exact specifications of each ability.

Go! Gaming Giant : Super Street Fighter IV Announced

I don't quite know how to feel about this, and I really won't know until we know more details. Well, I do know that I want more SF, though. :) I also know that both 19.99 and 49.99 are less than a standard retail price. I'm hoping for 29.99 at most, as SFIV could be found for 19.99 even before this announcement. As long as they improve the character balance and add proper online with support for more than one person, then I'm sure I pick this up sometime.

Go! Gaming Giant : Grand Theft Auto 5 Wish List

Good list, especially the point about co-op. Out of all the things Saints Row 2 did better than GTA IV, that was pretty high up on the list. That and save points during missions, so you don't have to drive all the way back to the place the mission actually starts every time you fail.

Go! Gaming Giant : New PlayStation 3, A Fresh Start for Sony

I've heard that the blu ray player in the PS3 is still one of the best that you can buy, thanks to firmware updates. That alone is a great reason to pickup a PS3. Throw in exclusives like God of War 3 and Infamous, and you have a great game console.

Go! Gaming Giant : The Sad State of Modern Game Music

I said this on our forum, but I'll say it here too: Many classical composers wrote pieces that are FAR longer than the minute and a half midi style loops of Mega Man 2, but still managed to compose memorable melodies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amXBUlgDwz0 I can see your point that shorter and more repetitious compositions might be more memorable, but as these composers have proven, you can make longer pieces of music and still include a melody that won't leave your head for days. As another example, this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CK2hx377iU Can now sound like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VCHVYnThKG0 And sound as relevant in a video game today, as it would have sounded if composed before the creation of the first video game.

Go! Gaming Giant : Movies to Games: 80's Style

Having grown up in the '80s, this was a lot of fun. One issue though: All those John Carpenter movies, and you forget They Live? How did that happen. And btw, Big Trouble in Little China just might be my favorite '80s action movie ever. Awesome film. :)

As much as it might be effective in the game, I just don't find the Halo or Gears soundtracks to be at all memorable. Some people really seem to enjoy thematic film score type music, but I'm not one of them. It's especially jarring having come from game music in the '80s and '90s, which was VERY memorable to me. That's mainly what I was getting at here. Well, that and what I said about licensed music taking over certain aspects of the industry.

I think a better way of wording this would be "those who beg for mercy are not good enough to deserve it". The thought being that no one should lower himself or herself to the point of begging for mercy. At least I think that's really what they're getting at. I still don't agree, though.

Go! Gaming Giant : 5 Gaming Characters I Would Have By My Side

In Smash Bros. it "breaks" when you do her smash ball attack. You then play a Zero Suit Samus, and can actually throw the broken suit pieces at your enemies. If you do another smash ball attack, you go back to the power suit. While Nick is technically correct, I'd still rather have Samus on my side than Sonic. :)

Go! Gaming Giant : Dark Void, Now With 100% More Gold!

If there's a demo that I really like, or another reason that I'm given that makes me fairly sure I'm going to want the full version, I'm definitely going to pre-order so I can get this. I absolutely will NOT play the game with it the first time, but after beating the game, it would be fun to go back through with infinite boost. Definitely one of the better pre-order bonuses I've seen.

Go! Gaming Giant : Will Games Ever Make Us Cry?

"But the question posed by the title of this article stands; will a game ever make us cry? It is a question which requires some clarification. For some we may have already reached a point where a game can educe such powerful emotions, but the trigger is never the game itself. The gameplay, the element that defines it as a game is not instigator but a story element usually expressed through a cut scene or similar device." It's this part of the article that makes this such an interesting topic. I think most are ignoring this, and are primarily talking about cut scenes and and other non-interactive segments of games.

Go! Gaming Giant : David Jaffe to "JUST SHUT THE F--- UP for the next 6 months"

"Although I do agree with Jaffe that used games are a problem, I’m not sure that I agree with his opinion that game developers should be given a cut of all used games sales. At best, that sounds like punishing a highly successful business practice, and at worst it sounds like racketeering." Seeing as I'm the person who wrote this article, which means the above statement happens to be my opinion, I have a question for you, or anyone else who cares to answer. If I sell or buy anything used, be it at a used car lot or a pawn shop, the original manufacturer doesn't see a penny of that money. Why should video games be given special treatment over any other type of purchase?
