HGTV Dreams Happen: Sweepstakes Blog : What's Your Favorite Room?

So excited I just entered my last entries to win this beautiful home! If God sees that it should go to someone else in greater need of a place to live, I pray it goes to a Veteran. Someone that has fought for this country yet struggles every day just to make ends meet. I pray the winner is a very needy family that will appreciate the huge blessing of this home. As for which room I like best? I love the kitchen and every single room of this home. The front bedroom color soothes me and I think that may be where I could take naps when I get tired. The living room is also a great place to welcome friends and family and let them spread out through the house to enjoy all the great art work and memorabilia as I saw it to be. I watched every show as it was re-built and everyone did such an awesome job on it ! The fact that they payed close attention to things like a nest of aunts near the fireplace showed me how carefully thought out this home really is in every inch of structure. Good Luck to everyone that has entered-and God Bless us all. :) It is time to pick the winner y'all !!!

Hey DBCoop In case there is still the question of Location of the 2016 Dream Home- here is the latest information I found when researched!! This is the site for the announcement I found http://www.hgtv.com/design/hgtv-dream-home/hgtv-d... 180 Utopia Circle, Merritt Island, FL 32952 !!!! Over 4000 sq ft, so close to the water it is amazing! Josh Temple gave the location- in the latest video. I looked up the address and found the former MLS listing on it. Enjoy!

Ok experts....which includes almost everyone here. LOL I was thinking about doing the mail entries by the "hundreds". To help our chances of winning. We can do both right? Does anyone do this? Also- do they tell us if the winner was via mail or online every year in the past? I know Vicki said online was her choice.

Very interesting Lindingo! Thanks for the tax tip on selling it as a possibility! The only tricky part I see is if the taxes become due again before you are able to find a buyer-then you have a real problem! But at least you have carved out a possible path for someone like me to have this information! Thanks again! (I am still in it this way..lol)

That's crazy, build a great home and then end up selling it on the open market to recoup the money it cost. So anyone that wins just gets cash. So, why not just make cash the grand prize and forget the home? Business profitbility-bottom line. So that is why they build 2-4 homes a year-just to get a huge write off????

Hey I answered my own question rofl. Marketing strategy for HGTV- build a home, with mostly free stuff because the makers of the products inside get free advertising on the show. Then give the winner cash- take a loss on a huge home because the value isn't actually correct at 2 million?

It's all done for a business loss write off? wow. Makes it kind of foolish that millions of people go nuts for home they can never keep. Again- it's sad and pathetic. But, I am one of them still dreaming of winning. duh. :(
--------------------------------------------

Oh My goodness Eugenia27 ?? Really? So basically this home is too expensive for anyone to keep and live in unless they are rich! That's sad. I wonder if HGTV plans to change this? I hope so.
Have a wonderful year!!
--------------------------------------------

WoooooHooooo !! Hey everyone! Hope all are doing great & have already gotten your entries started in on the 27th. Heaven forbid I miss even one-since I have a feeling that might be why I haven't won in the past. (yeah right) It's a beautiful home for sure but oh my gosh all the talk about Ca. taxes has my head in a tailspin straight towards the ground! So, from the just of it all, think we will be needing about 200k more just to keep it? But- for now I am just gonna enter and dream of all the beautiful stuff inside and the possibility to finally do some skiing for once! Does anyone know the month the Smart home & the Blog cabin home sweeps will open for entries? I need to get in on all of them this time when they begin! Meanwhile...keep dreaming you guys, maybe a blogger will win one of these then I can brag about almost knowing the winner!! Take care all!

Wow what a great gift to the winner of the home! That Kubota will whip around the new home with ease and speed for sure!. I have always wanted a mower or tractor that could multi-purpose such as pulling up old stumps or air rating (sp?) the lawn for spring. Just pop on a bag addition for hauling grass remnants or leaves from those big trees and you've got the best lawn on the block!

But no doubt HGTV will go all out for the lawn layout and probably won't require a 5 acre grass mowing.LOL But again, what a deal you found! I can see Grundy opening the show with a race around the property to show it off on the first airing date!! Woohoo!! Happy racing Grundy !! I think you guys may have just increased your male entries with that little baby!

Blog Cabin : Examining the Built-In Ironing Board

I Luv the old Ironing board and it's location. However- I think it should be repurposed as a sort of Kitchen counter island counter top with stools to sit by. The cabinet would be great as a pots & pans cabinet (if wide enough. I can't tell you how many times I have wished the pots & pans were NOT below the sink and very easy to reach! Maybe with a repurposed design the cooks in the family could save an injured spine by simply opening a standing cabinet to reach (and easily see) all the great cookwear I know this beautiful old home will have access to !!! Wouldn't that be great ??? We are currently looking for a new home and I ask the hubby if possible if he would make a pantry cabinet for our cookwear to my height when in my wheelchair-so there is no future possibility of emergency or injury. (I have Multiple Sclerosis-I have good days and bad days but that doesn't stop me from cooking!). I am not always wheelchair bound but as a -just in case- as the disease progresses along. I love the fact that the bedrooms are on the first floor! Finally a home I can see all the way around if I am chairbound! At first I thought the home was like a craftsmen home-yet am pleasantly surprised at all the great cubby holes and airy screened porches! And WOW the glass doorknobs and metal locks and hinges are going to POP when cleaned up!! I Think of how they will sparkle throughout this house when redone!! I can't wait!! Thank you HGTV for choosing a home that someone with a handicapp can acess almost all of it's beauty! I love it! Hope they move it soon! God Bless everyone!!

HGTV Dreams Happen: Sweepstakes Blog : Structural Design Sneak Peek

HGTV Thank You all for giving us all another wonderful chance to win a beautiful Home made of dreams! I feel blessed to have another opportunity to win one! What a stunning home and Oh that view!! Love it!! But....I have to ask. Has HGTV ever given (or built) a home that allows for a Handicapped Winner? Stairs are almost impossible and some of the doorways seem a bit on the small side, so I wondering if I would ever see the 2nd level or stroll the hills of these beautiful homes in my little "buggie", wheelchair? Somedays I get around just fine-but other days-not so much. Oh how I long for a ranch style with all the goodies on one floor. Some of us cannot walk up the stairs and it pains me to sound greedy in asking for one. Maybe I missed the "elevator" in the previous homes? But don't count me out-I would sell my current old house and put in a makeshift pulley just to have one of your homes! Thanks again Mary & HGTV and everyone who works so hard to make this all possible! Wheelin' 'round in the South!
