Big Journalism : What Andrew Taught Me

Equality of opportunity, not of results. Everyone born in this country has the right to pursue happiness. Everyone starts from a different starting point, because that's the way life is, and will always be. But everyone in this country has the opportunity to become filthy rich; all it takes is hard, hard work, a bit of luck, and a willingness to do what is necessary to better yourself, no matter what. Forcing equality of results means everyone becomes equally miserable, and is the antithesis of what the Founding Fathers wanted. Put down the Marx and read the Federalist and Anti-Federalist papers for a real glimpse into the intentions of the founders of this country. You'll find the libertarian/conservative ideology is MUCH closer to what they intended for us than the eventual tyranny that is created when Leftist ideology is followed to its conclusion.

Big Government : Romney Goes Occupy: The '1%' Need to Pay 'More'

Romney won't beat Obama. At all. He doesn't offer a clear enough alternative to the Marxist in the White House, and independents will go with "the devil they know". God help us all, and damn the Republican establishment for putting up such a rotten slate of candidates in the first place, with few notable exceptions.

The top 1% in our country has 25% of the wealth, and pays 40% of all the taxes taken in by the Federal government. They also directly and indirectly provide jobs and opportunity to millions of people with their money. The top 15% (which you are a member of if you + your spouse make 80k or more in total income) pay the lion's share of the taxes, yet conversely reap the least benefits for doing so. What about the now 50% of Americans (according to the CBO) who pay no income tax whatsoever, yet reap the lions share of all the benefits? Are they paying "their fair share"? Until everyone is paying into the system, your "fair share" argument is specious at best, and downright economically ignorant at worst.

Big Government : It's Time to End the War on Drugs

Yup. I've always said, that if I handed two teenagers 40 dollars each and told one of them to go buy a bottle of booze and bring it to me, and told the other to do the same with a sack of weed, I'd put 200 bucks down on the kid I sent for the weed to come back first. The very fact that it is illegal makes it easier to obtain illegally by minors. And as for the spurious claims that it is a gateway drug... A. It wouldn't be a gateway drug if it were legalized and regulated; the average person would not be put in contact with the elements of society that dealt in the harder stuff just to buy a bag of weed. B. Going with the "use of one will lead to the use of the other" definition of gateway drugs, I'd bet good money that 100% of heavier drug users started out with the two legal substances, alcohol and tobacco, before moving on to the harder stuff. C. If a person is already inclined to try harder stuff, he will. See my above comment about alcohol and tobacco.

If they do disagree with me, it's solely because they refuse to do due diligence on their candidate of choice. His voting record is publicly available for all to see. I'm not basing my statements on opinion. It's solid fact. As well, where did I directly insult or condescend to you in any of my posts? Here it comes now, though, sweetie. If you insist upon voting on one push button issue to the exclusion of all others in this election, you are an idiot. There is too much at stake. The future of our Republic hangs in the balance.

Once again. Santorum is NOT conservative in anything but his pro life stance. In almost every other instance he has sided again and again with people who want to grow the power of the federal government in our lives. Just because he loves babies doesn't make him a conservative. He's a baby loving STATIST who should by all rights have a "D" in front of his name, and would, but for their stance on abortion. Purely social conservatives (and I'm guessing you are one of them, judging from your adherence to labeling Rick Santorum as "conservative") are some of the most dangerous voters out there, because they claim the mantle while not believing the basic tenets.

Just because Santorum is pro life, doesn't mean that he is conservative. Far from it: he is nothing more than a baby loving Big Government statist, who has never met a spending bill that he didn't like. This is NOT the election cycle to be a one issue voter, unless that single issue is "Get BHO out of office". One issue voters are part of the reason why we have such abysmal choices every single year on the Right side of the field. As for Ron Paul, I have my reasons for not wanting him in charge (and his stance on the failed War on Drugs is not one of them), but if its between him and the Zerotron, I'll pick him. At least I'll only disagree with him 30-40% of the time, versus 99%.

Did anyone really expect anything different from this new super committee? It was either going to be a rote failure in the sense of not doing anything, or a rote failure in the sense of caving in to new tax increases. Really them not doing anything at all was the best case scenario from the start of this whole ill conceived surrender of constitutional authority to a small minority of the elite.

Big Government : Why the Super Committee Must Not Fail

The very fact that this "super committee" exists in the first place is a sign of rank failure of our elected officials to do what they were elected to do. It's ridiculous, and quasi-Constitutional at best, and thinking that it will solve anything is naive. Decisions like the one that gave us the "super committee" are big reasons as to why I don't want to have children; at this rate, I wouldn't want to try and raise children in the ruins of what this country used to be back in the day.

Big Journalism : Destroying Cain: When Is a Politico 'Update' Really a Correction?

Are you aware of the term "conflict of interest"? There is a simple explanation as to why Herman Cain doesn't have all the details himself, either of any suspected settlement or the investigation. As the head of the NRB, he was forced to recuse himself from the investigation entirely, and let his lieutenants in the organization handle everything, in order to avoid a distinct conflict of interest being introduced into the investigation. Herman followed the rules in this situation. Let me put it another way; do the police/DA tell the people that they are investigating on criminal charges every single detail of the preliminary investigation, or do they keep their cards close to their chest, because of the following reason: they need to make sure that there is something substantive to the allegations, so they can press charges without fear of either tipping their hand or going forward with spurious claims and risk legal liability? Herman Cain was aware of the investigation; just not the details.

Big Government : Herman Cain, the Anti-Kardashian: Authenticity Fuels Businessman's Political Rise

I'm sorry; I know it doesn't seem like it, but we are facing a disaster that will leave all of our children and grand children in bondage to an overbearing, monolithic government that doesn't care one whit about them other than to steal the fruits of their labors to line the pockets of the politicians and their friends up in DC. While I personally find abortion abhorrent from an ethical standpoint, it must not be the deciding factor in who we select to represent the Republican party next year. There is far too much at stake to be dickering about social issues, when the fiscal issues we face FAR outweigh the social in their immediate and long term devastation of the American way of life. Abortion at this point is an outlying concern at best; to base your vote entirely on that one push button issue is like noticing that the wallpaper in a building is outdated and needs to be replaced, when said building has caught fire and is beginning to burn out of control. We have to get our fiscal house in order first, before we start worrying about the social concerns, or we may not have a country/Supreme Court left that is able to rectify the mistake that was Roe v. Wade. At best we'll have a socialist command economy; at worst, a dictatorship.
