Funtasia Daily : Filly Funtasia Season 2 Trailer 2 - Spoilers!

Normally we would write an analysis when there's new video material. But it's the holiday season and the release of new episodes is extremely imminent anyway, so this time we didn't. Merry Christmas everyone!

Funtasia Daily : Funtasia Daily Six Year Anniversary

I was wondering when someone would accuse me of that. If the fact that all (or almost all) the non-episode youtube takedowns got reversed right after my initial article isn't enough evidence for you, you can join the Funtasia Daily discord and scroll up for half a year to see me dropping some information about episodes that had yet to air at the time.

Funtasia Daily : Filly Funtasia Episode 13: \"Farina, the Fire Dragon\" - Discussion

We did that for a while and would have preferred to continue to do so in order to allow as many people as possible to see the episodes, but we agreed not to as a part of an agreement to resolve the situation with extremely wide-reaching YouTube takedowns. Having episode links here would as far as I know not constitute infringement in and of itself and would help build interest in the show when episodes are immediately available at a place where they are visible to many people, but cooperating with this request was worth it to us considering the negative effects the takedowns were having. We might re-evaluate this policy in the future, but this is how we're approaching it right now. There are still episode uploads up out there, but you will have to find them elsewhere for now, sorry.

Funtasia Daily : Turns Out Dracco Does Want a Fandom

Right now I would personally be very careful when it comes to anything that could be reasonably construed as constituting a full episode, including reaction videos that react to a full episode as it is running. Even though things should be far better than before, their policy is still only defined in very broad outlines right now. It will likely become more clear in the future where exactly they feel like the line should be drawn. As for the other questions here, I hope to answer them all and more in a longer post soon, but I am still waiting to hear back from them about if there is any information in our discussions that they do not wish me to share publicly. (which I should really have asked them in person, but I didn't think about it at the time)

Funtasia Daily : Apparently Dracco Doesn\'t Want a Fandom

I considered for a while whether this could be the result of a troll posing as Dracco, but it seems very unlikely to me. The contact email uses their dracco.com.hk domain which they used for all their old info emails like the contact address for their apps. It seems unlikely that a random troll would be aware of this.

Funtasia Daily : Funtasia Daily Five Year Anniversary

I was wondering how you managed to find it considering that B-Water has next to no Google presence - a very lucky find indeed! Also, I should probably check Fillychan more often. I'm guessing that the actual animation is at least partially done in-house, since we believe that Dracco has multiple 3D modelers/animators working on Filly Funtasia in-house now. However, it seems that the only people they have working on Filly Funtasia in-house are 3D modelers/animators, which means that the rest of the work is done elsewhere or that our research is incomplete. As for quality - if anything, I think it's improved. And not just because the video quality is better, but also because stuff like the shading looks like it's improved to me. There are some scenes in Promo 5 which also exist in this new promo (Promo 6?), and the differences are quite noticeable when you pull up the same frame on both promos side by side. As for the bronies, well, there's nothing wrong with informing people who might be interested that this project has just showed some signs of life. Though personally I am going to hold off on trying to get the attention of the wider MLP fandom until FF's release seems to be imminent.

Funtasia Daily : Funtasia Daily Five Year Anniversary

I can see now how my send-off was a bit confusing. What I meant was "see you again in the next year's anniversary article when we can look back at this one" - I wasn't trying to imply there wouldn't be articles prior to that. "Soon" is when we have finished the research and the writing. We've done a bunch of research already - and we've found some interesting things relating to B-Water besides the video itself to talk about. Now we need to get it into text form, and we generally take a lot of time polishing articles. (since Filly Funtasia has been so incredibly slow moving, we sort of feel that it's okay to take our time with stuff like that) The trademark is a joke I stole from the Blizzard fandom which they use to poke fun at Blizzard's neverending delays. I think they probably stole it from the Valve fandom though.

Funtasia Daily : Screen21 Declares Bankruptcy

It was never going to come in September. I know that Wikipedia says that it'll air in September on Rai Gulp, but that information was inserted by an anonymous editor without any source. I did some research and there is no trace of Filly Funtasia on Rai Gulp's website. That is simply not reasonable for a September release. Especially since there's now only four days left of it. I would go correct it but someone already did which just got it reverted. I don't really want to get involved in a Wikipedia editing war. Since BRB/Apolo Films/Screen21 ceased involvement in Filly Funtasia last year, this piece of news probably doesn't mean that much for Filly Funtasia. But the September date was always bunk.

Funtasia Daily : Filly Funtasia: Not Dead Yet

I will not reveal publicly everything that I now know because of our anonymous source since I don't want to give any clues as to that person's identity and since some of the stuff is of a nature that I could potentially even be sued for it, but I think these things are fairly safe to reveal: 1. BRB is no longer involved in Filly Funtasia. BRB's active work on Filly Funtasia stopped in 2015, and BRB disengaged fully from Filly Funtasia about a year later. 2. The show was not finished when BRB stopped working on it. A few episodes were essentially completed, and the rest of season 1 was in various stages of production. 3. The current status of Filly Funtasia is unknown and what has happened to the show during 2017 is unknown. Unfortunately, I have no information about what's happened to Filly Funtasia more recently besides what's in the article. However, that does not necessarily mean that the entire thing has to be remade. It's unclear to me who exactly owns the various assets that BRB produced during their work on Filly Funtasia, but it is possible that Dracco actually owns them. In that case, Dracco can presumably just hand them off to whatever animation studio picks it up. Or, perhaps that has already happened. Of course, finishing something that is already half-created by someone else isn't necessarily the easiest thing to do, so a new studio might be forced to make some changes...

Funtasia Daily : Filly Funtasia's "New Status"

I'll start: In Sweden, I've never seen anything after Witchy (and therefore, after Simba) for sale. A few stores still have a small amount of Simba-era toys left in stock, but that's it. I used to see the Filly Magazine for sale here, but I haven't seen it in stores lately either.

Funtasia Daily : BRB\'s Filly Funtasia Videos Now Private

That's a very good question. With BRB handling distribution, Filly would probably have been released in a similar way to their other new shows - but if Dracco is in charge of that now, I really don't know how they'd distribute it. As far as I know, Filly is the first Dracco property to get an animated adaption so we have no previous examples to look at. How they're intending to distribute it is definitely one of the most important questions to ask Dracco.

Funtasia Daily : BRB\'s Filly Funtasia Videos Now Private

I actually think the show has to be near completion at this point. Unfortunately, being near completion doesn't guarantee that something will be released. For example, Warcraft Adventures: Lord of the Clans was canned despite being very close to completion. While I am fairly convinced that BRB won't be working on Filly Funtasia anymore, it is very notable that no removals have happened on Dracco's end. It is possible that Dracco is replacing BRB and that the show will be finished with a different production company. While I considered this very unlikely in the article, it's now starting to seem somewhat more likely after recent Dracco activity.

So, a few things. Home Focus Development Limited is the old name for Dracco Brands, which is a company Dracco owns to hold their intellectual property rights. Now, does it mean anything that two domain names are expiring in March 2017? No, I don't think that means anything, and the reason why is because both those websites have as far as I can remember been renewed yearly throughout the Filly Funtasia development process without anything in particular happening on the renewal dates. fillyfuntasia.com used to contain the same image that's currently on www.myfilly.com/fillyAd.html before being updated in mid-April 2015 (most likely for MIPTV 2015) and since left untouched. Nothing happened here on March 2016 and I don't think anything will happen on March 2017 either. Except perhaps if they let the domain expire. Dracconews.com seems to be a domain Dracco uses to host work-in-progress versions of their websites. Most likely for testing purposes. Besides Filly Funtasia, there's also Zombie Zity: http://zombie.dracconews.com/ I don't think anything in particular will happen to this website on March 2017, they'll most likely renew the domain and continue to use this domain to host their WIP stuff, whether it be related Filly Funtasia or other stuff. Both the FF section of Dracconews and fillyfuntasia.com seems to have been untouched since 2015. As for the video being someone else's, that's most likely just because it's a work in progress site that's not really meant to be seen by "outsiders". It's still got a lot of placeholder text and the images do not match the correct episodes. It's basically a design thrown together as a proof of concept which hasn't been worked on further besides at one point in late 2015 when they added some animations and stuff. They probably just grabbed the first Filly Funtasia video they could find on YouTube. To be completely honest, I think it's extremely far-fetched that the domain name expiration dates mean anything. Besides updating all their header images to remove Rose, BRB recently removed the mention of Filly Funtasia from the list of shows they're making on their about page. That was the only edit they did to the page - removing Filly Funtasia. That change certainly can't be explained by "maybe they just want to replace the info with more up to date stuff". We'll write about that in a few days since I want to give them some time to react to my latest round of rather frank messages. Though they'll probably keep ignoring them. BRB is no longer involved in Filly Funtasia. And they do not intend to resume doing so. It took me some time to come to terms with that. It feels like such an unfair outcome after three years of painful waiting, but I cannot see any other reasonable interpretation of these events.

They've been rather hard to get ahold of because they're in general pretty inactive on the internet. Our main interactions with Dracco have been through two people who both no longer work there. I sent out an email to their general information email (info@dracco.com.hk, the only email listed on their website) a few weeks ago, without any success. A few days ago, I tracked down two other email addresses which are listed as the media/licensing contact emails for Dracco at different toy fairs and sent emails to them. No reply yet, but I sent them fairly recently. I also sent out an email to Dracco Netherlands, because why not. And yeah, it always sucks when something gets cancelled and you can tell that the people working on it were truly passionate about it. The (probable) cancellation of Filly Funtasia is the one I've felt the worst about since StarCraft: Ghost. At this point, all I'm holding out hope for is really to get an official cancellation and maybe even a proper explanation of what went wrong.

Huh. Thank you for telling us about this. I had no idea that Filly's position had gotten that much worse in Germany. That leaves the Eastern European market as the only one where they're (probably) still doing well. For comparison, I took a look at this website's visitor statistics now as compared to early 2014, and German visitors have dropped by 50% while Russian, Polish and Czech visitors have increased. Now, we only usually get about a thousand or so unique visitors per month here, so it might not mean much, but that's basically all the hard numbers that I have access to. Based on what you're telling me, it seems to me like the most likely explanation is that the market volume has dropped so much (which can at least partially be blamed on the wrecked distribution networks when Simbexit happened at about the 2013/2014 winter season) that it is no longer financially viable to keep producing the show. If so, that's a shame. I have been doing some trawling of LinkedIn pages and stuff like that to collect small pieces of evidence, and I believe that the show must have gotten quite close to completion. Maybe someone will leak it on the internet some day.
