Also, never mind that millionaires ALREADY pay a significantly higher effective tax rate. Meanwhile, more than 45% pay no federal income tax. http://www.twitpic.com/7hkke9/full

But don't worry, the Federal Reserve has purchased nearly $1 TRILLION in U.S. debt during a one-year purchase, surpassing BOTH China and Japan.

You should see that their brothers in California are doing. The California Federation of Teachers (CFT) has proposed a "soak the rich" tax plan in order to better fund California's education system. The ENTIRE tax burden would be placed on those making over $1 million in taxable income. The shrinking group of those making over $1 million a year ALREADY pays over DOUBLE the effective tax rate of the majority of Californians and 87 TIMES more in total tax dollars than the top end of the bottom 2/3rds of taxpayers. Who's not paying their fair share?

The CFT's tax plan is mob rule, pure and simple. Of course, one of their partners in all this is Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment (ACCE), who used to be called ACORN before the latest nationwide scandal.

I agree that the problem is at many levels. However, the state is too dependent on 2-3% of its tax base who produce over 50% of all income taxes and generate over a quarter of the entire General Fund.

At the other end of the spectrum, California has 33% of the nation's recipients of Temporary Aid to Needy Families (TANF) benefits. California only has 12% of the nation's population. Why is our share of welfare recipients so much higher than other states?

Both Oprah Winfrey and Warren Buffett own homes in California. Despite its natural beauty and please weather, neither actually resides in California. Can you guess why? (HINT: It starts with a 'T' and rhymes with "axes").

Need more examples? Beautiful Lake Tahoe straddles the borders of high-tax California and low-Nevada. Why are real estate prices on the Nevada side so much higher than on the California side?

Governor Brown's proposed tax hike increase boost state sales taxes on all Californians by 6.9% over the current rate. However, for the top 2-3% of California taxpayers (a very small population), the Governor's proposed income tax increases increase rates by 10.75% to 21.51% over the current rate. Essentially, those making over $250,000 would start paying the same rate currently only paid by those making over $1 million. Never mind that these 2-3% of taxpayers ALREADY pays more income taxes, at much higher effective tax rates, than do the 2/3 majority of Californians.

See who pays their "fair share" in California and how the California tax system seems purposely-designed to insulate 2/3rds of voters from the true cost of operating the California government. Hint: It takes a 2/3rd majority to raise taxes in California.

If this comes to pass, it will be a great belated Christmas present.

Now if we could only do the same with some of California's other aging members of the far Left, many that originated from OUTSIDE of California.

1. Nancy Pelosi, 71 (Baltimore, Maryland)
2. Pete Stark, 80 (Milwaukee, Wisconsin)
3. Barbara Boxer, 71 (Brooklyn, New York)
4. Maxine Waters, 73 (Saint Lois, Missouri)
5. Henry Waxman, 72 (an actual Californian from L.A.)
6. Lynn Woolsey, 74 (Seattle, Washington)

I'm not surprised. Being one of the smarter dog breeds, the border collie likely has a substantially higher I.Q. and a better grasp of free-market economics than many attending Occupy Denver.

Yep, there was real fraud on Wall Street like the Magnetar scandal.

However, look at the sordid history of Fannie and Freddie and ALL the prudent reforms blocked by those in Government.
http://soquelbythecreek.blogspot.com/2010/02/fann...

Most people don't realize that late on Christmas Eve 2009, the Obama Administration promised UNLIMITED financial support to Fannie and Freddie. Why late on Christmas Eve? To minimize press exposure.

Biggest question? Why hasn't there been any hearings, arrests, or trials? At a minimum, there was severe neglect by many in Congress. Some of these members of Congress still accept general campaign contributions from those on Wall Street.
