I think that the war, while obviously mostly about saving the planet, also had a bit to do with fusion. I mean, in the SDCC extended theme garnet specifically says

"I will fight for the place where I'm free!
To live together and exist as me!"

Which would be about her existence as a fusion. Not to mention the events in Keeping it Together. So I'm inclined to agree with you to a degree.

But the N64, Gameboy, and Gamecube... Steven's world just an alternate version of earth that has gems in it. In our own, the Gems ignored us and instead screwed over Mars.

I think it works rather nicely. If they want to do a longer episode, the make it two parts, not to mention the fact that this show works in arcs. Otherwise I enjoy being able to watch it on my breaks.

Yes. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but that wink sold me. Discord's not stupid. Of course he planned this. I'm thinking with Celestia as well. Think about it: Twilight starts getting depressed about her lack of role, so what happens? She gets the biggest role ever, with Discord both directing them to the box and giving them the last key. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm right. We can never know, because if Discord or Celestia ever told anyone it would diminish the accomplishment. No one can ever know. Not even Fluttershy.
