It was fake and inappropriate. He's right about one thing: The blame is clearly broader here than Lickliter's abilities as a coach. The facilities issue is damning. It is apparently so easy for Barta to stand before Hawkdom and say that some of the blame was his. Okay, did he lose his job today because of his shortcomings? I suggest a 30 percent pay reduction to help offset the liability that athletic donors now will have to shoulder because of Barta's hire.
