8/10 needs more goth girls.

In all seriousness, I'm still not sold on X-Men not escalating the MCU too much. The current universe works because they have just enough characters and enough separation between them so they can have their own movies without the eternal question of "why don't the other 60 superheroes living on this city block intervene?"

When I work out, I get CDs from the library on a whim and listen to a new one each session. Today happened to be American Capitalist by Five Finger Death Punch. I started audibly laughing during the second verse of the second song because it's this bizarre mixture of a danceable drum line with copy-paste nu-metal guitars and a growling singer going on about angsty bullshit that's not even worthy of high school. I couldn't tell if it's supposed to be taken seriously or as a spoof of the genre. This album cover has me leaning towards spoof, but most of the album is completely straightforward generic modern rock.

Why do I share this in a post about the Joker's new look? I get the same reaction looking at this.

1) Mega Man
2) Care Bears
3) Captain Planet
4) X-Men (only because it's forced on us)

I've said this before, but X-Men is too big and wide-reaching a story to fit the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It also contradicts the "superheroes as rock stars" thing they have going on.

Some more suggestions:

5) United States-set Sailor Moon (in a similar vein to the previously pitched Akira)
6) Chrono Trigger
7) Final Fantasy VI
8) Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
9) Tetris
10) Pixels (fuck Adam Sandler)

Channel Awesome has been in decline for a while. Signing a new contract with them is not a very secure move.

Smithy won't happen. Super Mario RPG was developed by Square, who owns the copyrights and trademarks of the original characters and storyline (as evidenced by the credits for Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga). Whoever ends up with the film rights isn't likely to go buy the rights for one of the less mainstream games from a different company.

A suggestion: drop the Wario fight, use a high-tier minion such as the Hammer/Boomerang Brothers if you need the action beat. There aren't that many iconic Mario villains and he deserves more than a glorified cameo.

Introduce Wario in the post-credits and have him as the villain for the second movie, perhaps with one of the other kingdoms backing him. Third movie could be set in Subcon (probably works better as a weird alternate reality rather than as a dream) while the fourth would be IN SPACE, with the triumphant return of Bowser! Wario himself could be good spinoff fodder (I'm imagining a spoof of the gentleman thief subgenre).

I like how even when writing a spec treatment for Super Mario Bros., you still find a way to fit a goth girl into it. I would totally buy a Princess Plum action figure.

Well, I certainly can't wait for the sea lion brigade to come defend the purity of the gamer label against imaginary arguments that boil down to not saying everything they do is perfect and not agreeing that we must purge the feminist infidels lest they destroy gaming forever.

As far as the episode goes, I don't have much of a reaction because it's all set up, but I'd like to see where it goes.

What makes this really sad is that I've noticed an undercurrent of genuine darkness in many of his performances that read to me like he wanted to be somewhere, anywhere else. That it was his very existence and not merely getting saddled with some of the worst movies imaginable (which couldn't have helped) is tragic. My best wishes to everybody he left behind.

But Bob, back in that post you wrote sometime in early 2006 that I won't bother to source, you said something that is vaguely different from what you're writing now. Since you're not allowed to change your position on anything, ever, and you're also a big fat meanypants Nintendo fanboy CoD hater, that means you're an intellectually dishonest hypocrite that is wrong on everything and, by extension, this movie is just and holy and everything it stands for must be good if you hate it. Quid quo pro, motherfucker!
