Hi, I've been jailbreaking and unlocking for a few years already, so I'm confident in my terminology. Please don't assume I've made those mistakes. I had jailbroken my iPhone 4 on iOS 5.0.1. It is factory unlocked, so I didn't need an unlock. I downloaded the 5.1.1 GSM firmwear from iclarified and used pwnage tool to create a custom ipsw. I restored to that ipsw and while that seemed to work, I had no service. I tried the other iphone 4 5.1.1 GSM firmwear and did the same. It again seemed to work, but still gives me no service. What am I doing wrong? Can someone help me? Please!

Hey friends, I am fairly confident of this, but I want to ask anyway, just to be sure. I have a full-price (never locked) iPhone 4. I'm jailbroken on 4.3.3. I'd like to upgrade to iOS 5, and I don't want to be tethered. I'm willing to give up my jailbreak temporarily, but just love my SBS toggles so much that I don't want to be without them for long. I just want to be EXTRA sure that by updating without jailbreaking now I am not preventing myself from jailbreaking when an untethered jailbreak comes out. Can anyone say with confidence that that's the case? Thanks!!! Soch

Hello, I'm not new, and I've done a lot of JBing and unlocking over the last year on a lot of devices, but I'm getting a bit confused at this point and I'm hoping someone can help me out. I have my brother's iPhone 3Gs currently with FW 4.1 with BB 05.14.02. I know this can only be unlocked by updating the BB to 6.15 and that that's irreversible and that it will prevent apple from helping him with it ever again etc. He doesn't care, and still wants it unlocked. I'm getting confused because I'm not sure if I can use newer versions of Pwnage Tool to update the BB or where to get the older version if not. I'm happy to use Redsnow, again if I knew which version to get. I also need a source for the appropriate FWs to use. I don't care if I have to restore the firmware multiple times to get it updated and unlocked, so long as it ends up unlocked. Please help.

Hey Dev-Team, It's bean a while since I posted a thank-you for all your hard work, and I think it's about time I do so again. All my devices are factory-unlocked, but I just can't do without my jailbreak customizations. Thank you, thank you, thank you to each and every one of you. Soch

I'm sorry to ask a question that seems to me like I should know it, but I can't seem to find the specific answer I'm looking for. I have an iPhone 3Gs running iOS 4.1 and BB 05.14.02. Can this be unlocked WITHOUT upgrading the BB to 6.15.00, or is that still the only way? I've read conflicting 3rd party stories online, and it's not clear (to me anyway) on this site. I appreciate any help, thanks!

What about iTunes? Is there any reason to not upgrade to 9.0.3 if we're jailbroken and unlocked?

I enjoyed this post a lot, but I have a big bone to pick with one section - you argue that one ship could be seen as rodeph, and I think that saying so is more than a little bit disgusting.

If you are referring to the ship of criminals, then you are beginning on a serious misconception. It was stated very clearly thatr the criminals are 'murderers or thieves'. Thieving may be a crime, but it is in no justification for killing a man. Aside from that you're ignoring the guards - nominally people of good standing - and the crew of the ship. Also, when the large prisoner takes the detonator and throws it away, saying that that was what should have been done in the first place, he shows a mind and a soul worthy of life, perhaps even in the process of tshuvah of a kind.
Let's also not forget that these men are not convicts yet - they were arrested, and their trial was delayed, but they were NOT convicted. To imply that the ship was evil enough to be sacrificed is beyond wrong. If every man aboard was a convicted mass murderer or pedophile, than perhaps you could argue for their destruction, but that was not the case.

Now, if you were talking of the ship of civilians, implying that they showed a great evil in voting to kill the others, I could agree with you if it had been a unanimous decision, or if they had actually triggered the detonator. In voting to destroy the other ship roughly 3/4 of them showed a selfishness and willingness to tacitly accept murder that perhaps would earn them such a status, but the 1/4 or so who voted against it are not so stained, and since no individual would actually trigger the detonator, even though the action was tacitly accepted by that vote, they can't be said to be so corrupt as to be worthy of destruction.

I enjoyed your post, but I think you are very wrong to imply that the lives of any of those theoretical people could be forfeit. ESPECIALLY as the correct decision was shown by the large criminal - a person in that position must not play by The Joker's rules. The correct answer would have been to immediately toss the detonators away to eliminate all temptation. If The Joker is evil, playing his game is also evil.
