Its more like $650K and the car and boat with the cash option. the taxes with this option are around $500 K fed and state for me.

Its because of the enormous tax burden Steve. I think everyone would live in the dream house in a heart beat of it were economically feasible. I know the amounts have been posted but its in the neighborhood of $700,000 just for income taxes.

according to the newly released Federal 2016 tax tables, the taxes on prize package that includes taking possession of the house for a married couple is $638,964. I would also have to pay an additional $77,406 in state taxes for AZ. The taxes on the cash prize for a married couple is $445,490 plus $55,197 in state taxes in AZ. Additionally the remainder of your income is now taxed at the top bracket of 39.6%. If I won and took the cash prize I would end up with $649,313 in cash and a car and a boat. Not bad even with the outrageous taxes.

My Final 4 are in chronological order, Lake Lure, Sonoma, Stowe and Charleston. Lake Lure was the dream house when I first became aware of the HGTV dream house and is still one of my very favorites, but my very favorite is the 2013 Charleston, SC home. The decks, decor and design were the best all around imo.

We were amazed how gluten free dining is so well accomodated in Asheville. We liked 9 Mile and Modesto. 9 mile was a great neighborhood place that we walked to from the B&B we were staying at. The greenlife Market on Merriman was pretty awesome as well. Picked up sandwiches to take with us on our Blue Ridge Parkway drive.

I would estimate 25 to 30 feet from bottom of the stairs and it is uphill about 3 to 4 feet higher than the stairs.
