Funny Pictures, Animal Pics, Cute Images : Jon Stewart on Christians

You are either a fool or a goddamned liar. The persecution was of one christian group against another christian cult. Theists always play the persecution card but they are the ones most often doing the persecuting. Yes, there is an intellectual bias against all religions. It's called rational thinking. Religions hate that because rational thinking and free speech are fatal to any religion. If religions would not try to enact their sick, twisted views into law, there would be no problem. But no religion has ever not done that.

You must not know any christians at all. Every one I have ever met wants to enact their particular beliefs into law. Haven't you been paying attention to the Palin/Buchanann/Perry debacles? Any of these people, if elected, would immediately enact more "faith-based" initiatives and push the agenda of the religious reich into law. I have had theists tell me outright that the USA would be a better place as a totalitarian theocracy. Atheists, muslims, hindus, gays, all would be outlawed, deported, or sent to concentratio0n camps. Wake up and pay attention. I don't think you are agnostic, but a theist spreading the usual lies.

Atheist Revolution : Idiot of the Week: Rick Perry (Again)

Let's be nice. We have to give Rick Perry (plus Palin and Bachmann) a little slack. After all, they have two big problems working against them. They are all fundamentalist christians and politicians. Neither group has any use for facts, rational thinking, or the truth. How can we reasonably expect anything logical or intelligent from them? Have you no pity? My recent post The Cruel Truth About Fat

Atheist Revolution : Idiot of the Week: Dr. Laura Schlessinger

This woman has been wrong so may times that is is a disgrace that anyone would give her the slightest amount of credibility. She is ignorant, opinionated, and arrogant. Those three characteristics always seem to go together. LOL I have heard her start so many rants with "Men are..." as if what she says is automatically right about all men in all circumstances. Apparently, to the above three, we can add sexism because "Men are..." is never followed by anything complimentary. Personally, I am glad to see this disgrace to womanhood and America gone.

iPad Weekly : Kindle Vs iBooks: Which is the Best E-Book Reader App for the iPad?

Matthew, You are correct. As I understand, epub is the format chosen by Apple for the iPad. I do know that all submissions must be in that format. I am sure you can load other documents in other formats but you will be limited by the iPhoney OS. That's why I prefer my laptops (three Apples, and two Windows systems) I can use any format that works best with the document and easily convert to any other format. In addition, I can copy, share, or transfer any of my documents, videos, or other media as I choose.

I would not use either app, a KIndle (total crap) or an iPad. (mostly crap) I can do fr more, and far better with any cheap laptop or netbook, including a 10 y/o tablet PC I have. I also have well over 800 ebooks almost of of which I have converted to .txt or .rtf format, either of which are far better than the proprietary junk being pushed by Apple and Amazon. Nor can any media I have be disabled or deleted by anyone but myself. My ebooks, videos, and music are mine, not Apple's or anyone else's.

United Press International - UPI.com : Texas school board \'reinstates\' Jefferson - UPI.com

As usual, the religious reich wants a free ride to inflict their ignorance and twisted views upon everyone. Truth, the law, or right and wrong do not matter as long as they can freely spew their filth on children and adults alike. Most of the problems of the world are, and always have been, caused by religion. Mankind will never truly be free until the black yoke of religion is lifted by the clear light of truth and rational thinking.

Atheist Revolution : Idiot of the Week: Sarah Palin

As always, the religious reich gets a free ride on everything from taxes, illegal activities such as gambling (bingo), and now inciting to violence. If someone said the identical things about Sarah Palin, they right wing-nuts would scream until mountains crumbled. The statement should be spread as far and wide as possible except it should initially be hinted it is from atheists and liberals. Only at the end, when righteous indignation was in full flow, should the true source be revealed.

Atheist Revolution : Coming Out as an Atheist to Your Christian Family

Blame it on my parents. They always told me to "think for myself". I doubt they ever considered what would happen if I really did that. Now, I suspect what they meant was, "Think what we tell you but do it in your own words." Too late. When I was 13, I began to question everything and soon the total absurdity of religion became apparent. Because I have been “encouraged” (forced) to read the bible several times, it was easy for me to see the contradictions in the book, what christians professed to believe, and how they lived. When I refused to go with them to their church, they said they “Would make me go." I asked them, “How are you going to make me? How will forcing me to attend church change my mind?” Already, their attitude was starting to harden me against everything else they would tell me. Their next idea was to have their minister talk to me. I told them it was a waste of everyone's time. They persisted and had him come to the house to “Talk some sense into me.” (as if they ever works for anyone) After about 15 minutes, of him quoting the bible to me and me pointing out that he was either wrong in his quotes or showing him how it said something else in another place, he became very angry and told me I was going to hell. I suspect it was because I knew the bible better than he did and was, at age 13, able to prove how ridiculous his arguments were. I told him, “If there is a Hell I'll see you there. Save me a nice place, OK?" He said I was an impertinent, disrespectful child. By then, I was angry myself and for the first time, I told a christian that he was a hypocrite, a liar, and a fool. My parents insisted that I apologize. I refused and left the room to a lot of yelling and threats. For the next four years, I heard about this at least once a week. So the night I graduated high school, I left my parent's home and didn't see them again for well over a year. By then, I had completed a couple of years of college, which fortunately, I was able to pay for myself. I was entering the army and wanted to try to make peace with them, but had to listen to the same old recriminations and arguments again. The next time I saw them was two years later when I was getting married. After several years of an on-again, off-again relationship they finally agreed to just not discuss it any more. I'd like to say that worked, but slowly subtle hints became outright condemnation. Then I took a job transfer from Ohio to Arizona, so family meetings were rare enough to become occasions for something other than contention. What did I learn? Even your family can turn against you if you refuse to share in their illusions. No, there are times when you must become your own person and stand firm in what you know to be true.

justjason : Apple iPad Thoughts

Oh yeah, the iPad is a marvel. I have a 10 y/o tablet PC (Walkabout HH3) that does all of that and isn't tied to buying anything from Apple, Amazon, or anyone else. I'm not just bragging on my device but pointing out that just about any tablet, netbook, or laptop PC will do the same. I have almost 900 ebooks, magazines and stories and I got them all for free. Buy from the Apple store? Give me a break. That was the purpose of the iPad, iPod, and even the iPhone. Selling junk for them is the most profitable part of the Apple empire, I've been a Mac user and fan for over 20 years, but this Apple has a big worm in it.

Atheist Revolution : Keep Your Ridiculous Christianspeak to Yourself!

I like to point out to people praying for their sports team to win or to get a new guitar or something equally trivial. " At any moment, there are 27,000 children dying of starvation or malnutrition. What makes you think your god is going to let them die and help that field goal be successful? " I further point out that some of those children may be christians/mulims/jewish, (depending on their beliefs) and in any case are probably too young to have committed any mortal sin other than being born. Isn't it a bit arrogant to expect special dispensation from a god that lets children starve to death?

Brazil Brat : Becoming Free

I appreciate your thoughts Evan. Mt parents have both passed away and we had more or less reconciled. We did this by, as you say, never discussing religion. If they started on that, I'd find an excuse to go somewhere. Eventually they realized that ,if they wanted to see me, they had to stop that behavior.

First, this commercial is really well done. Funny and entertaining. But totally unnecessary. I've been "trimming the brush" for years and have yet to experience a nick or scrape. After all, it's really no different from shaving your face. Stretch the skin? Sure, doesn't everyone do that? Personally, I do all my shaving in the shower because the extra moisture makes everything easier. One thing they don't mention is less hair is more hygienic and thus, odor-free. 'Nuff said. :)

Exactly how does logic tell us that "these things require an intelligence, a designer"? I'd like to see that chain of logic. One thing that theists never seem to understand is that saying something, even believing it yourself, doesn't make it true.
