Except Mansfield was won on the same 'loaned vote' principal in 2017 - ir now has a 21,000 tory majority. They took a long time to change their mind and their vote - Labour will have to work hard to be taken seriously by the voters here again.

Who cares if it is revocable or not? We are leaving. They could offer the best deal in the world but we are leaving. I don't like the democratic deficit and don't want to remain part of a disgusting German Ponzi scheme that is destroying the lives of young people across Southern Europe. Art. 50 letter should read 'we quit, effective immediately'.

Absolutely not The guy ratted in a pretty underhand way and now appears to want to re-rat. He had little sense of public loyalty to the Conservatives when he was a Tory MP and has shown little loyalty for the Party that took him in. He appears to be the founder and only member of the Douglas Carswell Party Come on Clacton, you can do better than that

Anyone over the age of 20 who tells me that they know what 'young people' want is deluded. 15 year olds regard 19 year olds as ancient As young people grow up they change - and none of us know in what direction. Thanks for calling me and millions of others vile by the way - very helpful language in a democracy and one of the reasons that Remain lost - keep it up!

So you wish, but wishing doesn't make it so. Guessing what 18 year olds will do tomorrow is a fool's game, let alone what they will be doing or thinking in 20 years time

ID cards would be tackling the symptoms and not the cause. Elections in this country were pretty clean until the uncontrolled flood of unemployable economic migrants under Blair and, sadly, Cameron When government gets control of our borders, stops issuing NI numbers like sweets and throws out the millions of overstayed students, bogus asylum seekers and illegal immigrants then they can talk to me about tagging free-born UK Citizens like cattle.

Conservative Home : Requiring ID to vote is sensible. But we also urgently need postal vote reform.

We all agree that clamping down on oter fraud is good, but we run the risk of over-complicating a system that has served well for a very long time to deal with highly localised corruption. Instead of trying to stamp out fraud 'retail' why not tackle it wholesale? Areas with a strong, independent and efficient electoral department would stop most voter fraud dead in its tracks - which is why it is only really a problem in inner city, one-party hellholes. Anyone applying for multiple postal votes from voters at different addresses to go to one address in my borough would result in the ERO calling in the police - so no one tries it on. As for photo voter id, nice idea, but millions of elderly never leave their houses, have no relatives etc - are we to disenfranchise them nationwide to target a serious, but highly localised problem? Ensure strong independent ERO's in dodgy boroughs and the postal voting and voter registration problems largely vanish.

No, what we would have is a bungling bureaucratic system, making huge mistakes in dealing with the data; have given the green light to every retailer, utility and public service to demand ID at every transaction and built a huge and profitable ID fraud industry, churning out ID cards like confetti. If you put the word IT database and Government in the same sentence you know what we get.......

Sounds like a cleverly worded plan for a wholesale renegociation - but we didn't vote for that, we voted to leave the EU. We don't 'want' an EU of nation states or any other configuration because it is none of our business anymore - what they chose to do is up to them; and we don't need to negotiate to keep access to the single market since, if the worst tariff rate they can impose outside is your quoted 0.3%, who cares? As for free movement, we will now decide who comes in and who goes out so we don't need to talk about that either. Out, out now and don't look back.

If everyone who said they were leaving the party during the life of Con Home actually did Party Membership would be a negative number. May has a majority of 17 and 147 outers in her party - and she cant call an election so who has the whip hand there? A thriving membership of Brexiteers will keep the remain MP's a bit more subdued since they all have to be re-selected - lots to play for Foxy, don't resign or you undermine brexit!!
