Wow! Homophobia on parade. There are studies that show just the opposite of what you say regarding unit cohesiveness which was just a rationale to institutionalize the homophobia.. I really love the "I have nothing against gays". Substitute any race ethnicity or religion for "gay" and your bigotry comes shining forth. This is first and foremost a traffic calming device for a very dangerous blind corner. And the traffic isn't only Warm Springs that shuttles thousands of cars daily, hundreds of which contain employees going to work at the state jobs located out there. This intersection processes many cyclists and pedestrians utilizing the river to ridges trail system. Nevertheless much of the criticism of this proposal come from people who are actually ticked off cause it will slow down their commute. Pretty damn selfish to think only of their own bad planning over the safety of their neighbors. Once the bridge goes in, this project will significantly slow traffic on Warm Springs making it one of the best and SAFEST boulevards in the state.

Lt Col Fehrenbach is being discharged after 18 years of active duty, 88 combat missions, 2,180 total flight hours, 1,487 fighter hours and 400 combat hours. Oh yeah, and after roughly $25 million in training. How is this policy in the country's best interest? And piper, do you really think that with this much to lose that the good colonel is living a "lifestyle" like it was his choice to be gay? He is gay. The military made him lie about it. The only distinction between the discrimination he is suffering and a black man fifty years ago was that he was able to hide his homosexuality. But neither had any "choice". And the US suffers from this discrimination.
