Single Parent Dad : What’s a healthy amount of risk for children?

That's a very good point. That most accidents are called that as they could not have been predicted, whereas you're deliberately introducing risk by things like trampolining. So is that something you've avoided, or stopped your kids from doing?

Single Parent Dad : Are you worried about SATs?

Hi Ruth, glad to know you still dip in here, and that it isn't just me. Do you know which of the Tom Gates books that's in? Might get Max to re-read it for the reminder from someone who isn't me. Thanks for the good luck!

Single Parent Dad : Should I stop blogging about my child?

I feel that sister. My boy does so many funny things, and likes it when he's painted in a good light. But, likewise, isn't so funny when he's trying to be. We've talked about sharing stuff, and even the possibility of putting content out there together. And I think if we actually committed to that we'd learn how each of us feels about sharing some of our lives online.

I am always conflicted on this. I don't share a great deal. And I'm not a personal Facebook user. Guess I'm getting increasingly conscious of Max's privacy as it becomes more precious to him. Thanks for sharing. Sharing being the apt point!

Single Parent Dad : Top 3 Family Films on Netflix

Yes, but good call. Think Despicable Me 2 is available on Netflix. Also love Monsters University as a somewhat related tangent.

Single Parent Dad : Is Netflix good for families?

That's a very good point Michael. Without commercials, like on some catch up services, I can play precisely how much time I have and if I can squeeze in an episode of something or not. Plus, as you type, kids aren't exposed to adverts, and thus parents not exposed to kids pining for the plastic crap contained in those adverts.

Single Parent Dad : Why school reading quotas are bad for kids

I like that idea. We don't really have a pattern to our reading. My boy usually reads before bed, and always takes a book or comic with him anywhere he's not going to be 100% occupied.

Agree 100% with that. It's a very a short-sighted, almost draconian and one-style-fits-all doomed to failure philosophy.

Proper jealous. It will be awesome. We were about a 10 minute drive from Tulum. And it's definitely not the med, you see nothing like the Collectivo in Europe! Be looking forward to read about how you get on, and please give us a shout if you fancy any more details of the stuff we got up to.

Single Parent Dad : The Best UK Theme Parks for Families

My lad splits the difference at 10. Be prepared for your older one to be able to go on rides your younger one can't, as there is a 1.4metre height restriction on some of the bigger rides. However there are some fantastic rides that don't have that stipulation, Sonic Spin Ball is one of the best roller coasters at Alton Towers, in our humble opinion. Hope you get to go soon.

How old are your two? Alton Towers has changed a lot since my childhood, and I would say it was even better now. Cheers for the Flamingo Land tip, we're heading north in the summer so I will add it to our possible days out.
