I love Call The Midwife. Even when it is not at its best, it is a joy to watch a show centered about women and their professions. The books that the show is based on are also good (albeit full of some horrific stories).

I didn't do cry-it-out with my first, but I did modified/graduated cry-it-out with my second. I recommend enlisting a partner/friend to help--meaning they go in to try to soothe (without picking up), and extend how long every night. Or if you want to go full-blown cry-it-out try to not be physically present in the house. If I had to be around to hear the crying, I would have a clock nearby (because what seemed endless to me was like...seven minutes of crying), headphones/ear plugs and something distracting. If you are not ready to do either, just try taking small steps toward delaying how quickly your run and pick up baby when she starts crying/fussing. Count out loud to yourself and see if you can extend the time you wait by 30 seconds, 60 seconds, etc. and give your baby a chance to self soothe.

This is a wall of text, but my ultimate sleep advice in relation to kids is that NO ONE has it figured out. People who seem like they have a baby who sleeps perfectly often have a toddler who starts waking up all the time. This is not comforting in the sense that there is no perfect solution, but it is comforting in the sense that you can go with what you are comfortable with and in all likelihood everything will be a-okay.

Yeah I definitely felt sorry for him because he said he picked out the movie because he wanted them to know he likes having two moms and has never felt like he was missing out on anything and they like to watch movies together as a family.

I saw it yesterday and so can fill you in. They were upset by straight depictions of lesbian sex as being fetishizing. They talked about how so many depictions of lebsbian relationships in media were disappointing or upsetting to them. So then they tried to find something else to watch on the son's laptop and somehow discovered his porn history, which included girl-on-girl porn and then they were upset.

I don't have a big problem with Elisabeth Moss, but her bad accent in Top of Lake really distracted me.

It definitely could have been a case of retributive pooping, but I feel like if she had been in her basement at all in weeks (to make sure it looked okay for people viewing her home), she would have noticed for sure and then could have cleaned it up.

I have wanted to check it out--it's good to know that it was so well received! If you are looking for your next literary web adaptations I would recommend either of the Candle Wasters' series (Nothing Much to Do or Lovely Little Losers) based on Shakespeare plays.

Late to the game, but when we were house shopping we looked at a house where someone still lived and so had arranged for a viewing and she was out. There was dog poop alllllll over the basement. I just still can't understand why she wouldn't clean that up--in general, and especially if she knew people were coming to look at her house.

Do we really want to follow this line of reasoning? I mean, Jaycee Duggard had multiple children by her rapist/kidnapper, too.
