......The only thing missing is the "yellowsnow guy" Rick rolling everyone again. It'll be ready when it is. They've never held out before and they won't start now. If desperation forces you to try a paid unlocking site. Then I guess there really is one born every minute.

Just to share some good news. Paypal has decided my case in my favor ( Full refund plus shipping.) Those of you with iPhones stuck on the ss# and zip screen have hope to get your money back. Do NOT hold these phones hoping for some hactivation solution (No one is really working on one.) You only have 45 days to start a dispute. You CAN get your money back. I did.

Seriously?? A tethered jailbreak that uses Geohots exploit? Unable to be corrected by Apple without a hardware change? Possibly a permanent jailbreak? Funny...I don't see the nightmare here anywhere.

Thanks. People need to understand. There are two types of iPhone 4 sellers on eBay. 1) the guy gets the phone, activates it via iTunes, then cancels the account. He probably pays 550-600 total for this. Sells it on eBay for 800+ and makes a little money. I have no problem with these guys. 2) the guy gets the phone. Opens it. Pulls the sim. Cancels the account. Then sells it on eBay. He pays 299 for his phone. Bypasses the ETF of 300+ and sells it for the same 800+. He makes 500 plus and is selling a brick. These guys need to be exposed for the thieves they are.

No. A cancelled account locks the phone to the old #. Even WITH the ss# and zip you will still not be able to activate the phone. There is a pending ETF balance against the old account. I personally have had this happen. The phone is for all intents and purposes bricked. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Doesn't work. Already tried that. Imei is locked to previous # in iTunes. There is NO way for a third party to activate. The original purchaser has to reactivate his account. Then activate the phone. Then cancel the account. As far as AT&T is concerned the bearer of this phone still owes 300+ dollars for the ETF. The op has no recourse at this time.

You are pretty much screwed. You had 45 days to open a dispute and get your money back. The previous posters are WRONG. I hate when someone who hasn't even seen a iPhone 4 comments with incorrect advice on how to activate. No sim will activate an iPhone 4 that has never previously been activated. Don't waste any more money. There is a high probability that the original owner cancelled his accountwithout ever registering the phone via iTunes. Thusly he avoided the early termination fee. Locking the phone to his #.

No. The short of it is... If you can use the phone as an iPod. It is activated. Your phone isn't IMEI blocked. A cancelled account will automatically subject the original account holder to the ETF. Thusly the phone can be transferred or unlocked at a later time via ultrasnow etc.

Just venting. My sincerest apologies. I was responding to the fact that anything that would let a buyer keep this phone longer was moot. Even with the info needed iTunes would still not allow the phone to be activated. My point ( Though poorly stated) was that there are two kinds of iPhone 4s being sold on eBay now. In the first scenario the guy buys the phone online for 299.00. Gets the phone. Activates it. Then cancels the account ( paying the ETF of 3 hundred something.) then sells the phone on eBay for 800 plus. No problem. The seller makes a couple hundred. Everybody's happy. The second scenario is when someone gets the phone online. 299.00. Cancels the account to intentionally avoid the ETF. Then sells the phone online for the same 800 plus. He is pocketing 500 plus profit and essentially selling a brick. Anything that I can do to expose these thieves. I'm going to do. If ONE person opens a dispute and gets their money back then that is all I was trying to accomplish here. Again @MUFC. My apologies for making you the brunt of my tirade. Peace. The second scenario is when

Do you even READ the posts you comment on?? I am NOT some " newb". Even with the info. i.e. The sellers zip and ss# (USA) the account is STILL cancelled. The seller has to temporarily restore the account to free the IMEI for transfer. To do this he needs. 1) The phone. 2) The original sim. 3) Access to iTunes and finally 4) The ability to call AT&T customer service. Any one else who does this is committing criminal impersonation third degree. Across state lines in the US it is a felony and a federal crime. Two years minimum jail time.

Just a quick comment. People who buy iPhone 4s from eBay only to discover that they need the billing zip and ss# need to know they have been ripped off!! The seller bought this phone and never activated it to avoid the early termination fee from AT&T. The IMEI is locked to the sellers account. There is no sim that will activate these phones and even with this info AT&T and apple cannot bypass this. The ONLY current way to activate these phones is with a temporary restoral of the cancelled account BY THE SELLER so that AT&T can recoup the ETF. Get your money back!!

Yep, We have to wait til there is a hactivation released or another solution. The problem is between Itunes store and your phones IMEI. Because it has never been activated the old account is tied to the IMEI for security purposes.Sims don't bypass this. Be patient. I'm sure that because this problem is VERY prevelent that a solution is pending.(At least I hope so.)

Spoofing and changing IMEI is illegal too and shouldn't really be discussed on a public forum like this. Condoning illegal activity (No matter how stupid the law is.) Really opens a can of worms for the Devs. They are already skirting several gray areas.

Are you trying to use ultrasnow? My son's Iphone 4 is on gophone pick your plan with no data and the unlockit site worked fine.(No ultrasnow OR jailbreak) Maybe you should try uninstalling ultrasnow, pull the sim, power off, reinsert the sim and see what happens. You could also check and see if you have the profile installed in settings.
