It's disheartening to say that I cannot remember the last time I read the news and didn't feel like slapping someone in the face. Malaysia, I love you and I pray this 'sickness' that you experience will fade away soon enough.

Dude, I bother about ISSUES AROUND THE WORLD. Last time I checked, Malaysia is still part of that world. Let me make this simple enough to comprehend: A) I don't know what world you live in but neither you nor anyone else have any right to tell me what I can or cannot 'bother' about (regardless of how I feel about being Malaysian). This is my opinion. B) Your comments obviously state your opinion which is right in your mind. C) Everyone's entitled to their opinions. So go ahead and have another opinion about my opinion. Who knows, we might be able to agree on something, someday. Thank you and have a nice day. ;)

I find it hard to believe that you are a native English speaker (read: display name) based on your atrociously written comment. Also, I beg to differ on the statement you made about how Europeans speak better English. As a matter of fact, only certain European countries (and most western Europe) fall in this category you speak of. Only the UK, Germany, Netherlands,Belgium and quite possibly the Scandinavian countries are better in terms of the lingo. If you've been to France/Spain/Italy/Greece and most parts of eastern Europe, you'd see that most of them still struggle with the language still. But I digress. Your whole comment has really nothing to do with the debate at hand.

easier said than done. you cannot deny that the voters that are aware of the pressing issues we face are much smaller in number compared to the ones who don't. and just so you know, my earlier comment was meant to be taken with a pinch of humour. although... option (b) sounds pretty tempting. ;)

If English was one of your main lingos as you were growing up, then yes, there will be no issues whatsoever of being educated in BM medium. I say this through my personal experience. YOU CANNOT however, assume the same for people who use other languages (besides English) as their main communication to smoothly transition from a BM medium to English medium tertiary education (especially science related subjects) the way you did. You said yourself that the English language subject being taught in this country is deplorable. For these people, it's just another language hence the lack of importance placed upon mastering the language. I agree that being in a country as diversified as ours, people should be given the option to choose the language that suits them best for education. Enough of all this nonsense on which language is better. One man's meat, another man's poison.

if they are hiring, please let me know! on a more serious note, this sort of incident that has been ongoing for a while now is exactly what irks me and because of that i have half the mind to: a) quit permanent employment and freelance so that our idiotic gomen would get none of my money to lavish upon silly decisions. b) leave this country and pay taxes instead to some other country who put the money to better use!

The Malaysian Insider : Main - Features - ‘Wife-sharing’ haunts Indian villages as girls decline @ Fri Oct 28 20

it is absurd to say the least but i can tell you where they get that ridiculous idea from. they see women as a liability, ie: someone who cannot bring home the dough. Sure they can cook and clean and bear children but the men has to provide financially and the dowry is seen as a way of saying 'here, please take care of my 'financially dependent' daughter. okthxbai' but they sugar-coat it by saying it's to 'help' the newlyweds set up their home after the wedding. There is already an Anti-dowry law in India, but you know how these things work with the village people. Their cultural laws supercede everything else.

The Malaysian Insider : Government beats cheap restaurant food target - The Malaysian Insider

This is what I hear from reading those lines (INSERT SARCASM WHEN NECESSARY): The PM is likened to that of royalty and has never known what it's like to eat us "commoner's" food. So he's showing how saintly he is by going against his 'upbringing' and eating 'common' food. I mean come on, he could die from eating the people's food, ya know.If this is not the most caring thing a PM can do for the people, I don't know what is. *Cue to ROLL EYES*

I know exactly what you mean. My friends and I went to a private hospital to perform a full health check up and decided to perform a pap smear as well and we were treated with similar comments as to how we DO NOT NEED a pap smear because we stated "Single" in our records for Marital Status. Such BOLLOCKS.

Over the recent years, I've become pretty cynical myself about the potential of our country and our people. I really do hope you're right when you say "I am sure that we can do the same here in Malaysia." because from personal experience, all I see are people with no compassion towards others.

The Malaysian Insider : No threat of Christianisation, says Anwar - The Malaysian Insider

Do we really need to waste our time and effort on something as trivial as this? For everyone's sake, I only hope nothing gets out of hands resulting from this 'gathering'. It seems that everybody's limits are being reached and eventually people would start acting upon their emotions and frustrations and nothing good is going to come out of it. :(
