I think that the only serious way that we could change our government and get it back on the side of the people is to place term limits on Congress. Limit each to two terms just like the President. Once a Senator or Representative serves more than two terms, they are corrupt. It make no difference whether they are Demarcate or Republican, their fundraising machines are so tuned into where the money is that their votes are bought and paid for already. After watching the saga in IL unfold, I think the reason it made headlines across the country is that it gave the average American a glimpse into how these politicians operate. If half of Congress knew that they were going home at the end of the next term, it would make it easier for them to vote in the best interest of the people they actually represent. It would also keep our country more centrist because the loons on the left and the right would be heading home before they could do much damage.
