Its an even bigger shame that a background check, paperwork, and even an ID won't prevent a violent criminal from easily acquiring a handgun. Could it be because violent criminals may not have a very high regard for laws, or the consequences of violating laws?

As a college student and vehicle owner, I would like to see my arbitrary transportation fee removed from my account balance each term at LCC. Lane students, and others like us, are funding transportation that many of us are not using, yet we are obligated to pay each term.

You really cannot resist, can you? You have no idea if the suspect even had a right to carry or even own a firearm. Do you even know if the suspect is old enough to legally be drinking? Here in Oregon, as far as you can tell, all gun owners are untrustworthy scoundrels who are prone to violence. Why even compare a CHL holder from Oregon with a suspected shooter? Your grand assumptions are very insulting to a large demographic of responsible gun owners that they frankly do not apply to.

In all of your (hypothetical) Federal Marshall training, you were not educated in the principle of containment? The longer a suspect or fugitive runs free, the more danger said criminal presents to the public. Further, he chose to use his vehicle as a weapon in an area where it could inflicted mass collateral damage against unintended numbers of people. Marshalls and other "L.E.O."s get plenty of time on the range and in their private lives to try out their "serious heat." One thing a trained Federal Marshall would not do is badmouth their own, particularly if their entire knowledge of this one particular case is limited to that of a news article. Bottom line, I'd rather a team of Marshalls fire accurately upon one dangerous fugitive than hear about how they could have stopped him with firearms, but instead tried peacefully and patiently negotiating--which led to the deaths of a family of 4 on their way to get groceries.

I hope that Barry Macguire has a stronger backbone than city council. I'd hate to see what the decline in listeners would do for Bi-Coastal Media if the show gets canceled. Speak for yourself. Don't assume for one second that I have not earned my way out of the gutter. I spent the first 15 years of my life in a very turbulent, low-income environment. I pulled myself out of the gutter before I even graduated high school. If karma, luck, divine intervention, or miracles exist, then I have more than paid for them in advance. I have made myself skillful and competitive so that I would never have to live that way again. Nobody gave me that. People are as free in this country to embrace and enable them as they are free to protest their occupation. People's compassion and love are subject to their own priorities. I don't understand how this is a bad thing. Enabling undesirable behavior is not an act of love or compassion.

Why is city council so afraid of this group? If you cannot remove them, deputize private citizens who are more than happy to do so. Where do I sign up? I will do it for free and even sign a waiver of liability for my personal safety. I fear nothing about them and would consider it a reward in itself to remove each and every one of them from the premises. I cannot be the only one that feels this way.

He didn't die on Beltline. The entire pursuit spanned from downtown Eugene up the 105 Eastbound and he was killed just about a mile from the end of I-105. I am glad they have chosen to honor him in this way. Its the least that the community he died protecting can do.

If it was a member of the Tea Party, he would have explained himself much more clearly than um...um. I really wish you would quit referring to citizens in the Tea Party as "teabaggers." We are all adults here, I assume. Name calling is so "K-12." I have read many of your other posts and think you are better than to sink to that level. Personally, I'd love to be a part of stifling this illusion that you call a revolution, but these people are doing a good enough job of stifling it themselves. Why not fight back with your vote? Lobby for outsource reform and/or tariffs on imported goods? I'd even join you. People can be heard without risking arrest, unnecessary violence, or public ridicule by the rest of the 99%.
