Religious indoctrination / brainwashing of children has been going on for many centuries, both in Britain, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and most other areas of the world. Parents and other supposedly intelligent & responsible adults, irrespective of their religion, be it Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism or other ones, just cannot resist forcing their personal beliefs and will on their & other peoples offspring. This is Child Abuse, no more, no less. It is bullying an individual to follow the wishes of another individual or group. It is absolutely no different than forcing a child to take hard drugs or to have sex with an adult, or making a child shoot a gun or throw a grenade on the battlefield. It is morally wrong and a serious abuse of the adults power over the child. It is the duty and obligation of adults to educate a child, to give advice and provide the information necessary for the child to grow into an adult who is capable of logical thought and who will become a useful member of society. I believe that no child should receive any form of religious indoctrination until they are at least 16 to 18 years of age and have received the necessary education that will allow them to study the available facts and make a clear & logical decision for themselves regarding which - if any - of the many mythological religions they wish to follow. Indoctrinating a child into any religious belief, should be punishable by a term of imprisonment and the child should be removed to a place of safety. I feel that while at school, the children should be educated in their nations language, arithmetic, national and world history and other useful subjects. At the same time, in order that they can at a later date make an informed decision regarding religious belief, there should be a limited amount of religious education given. But, that religious education should be wide ranging, covering every one of the worlds religions, not restricted to one individual cult.
