/Film : VOTD: 100 Best Movie Lines in 200 Seconds

My biggest problem is how they kinda cheated a line or two by throwing out the latter half of the line. Fun overall though.

/Film : Pixar's Up Finally Gets First Negative Review

My best guess is that Mr. White has something in his life that is missing and instead of facing his problem lashes out at others (or in this case, the work of others). I think there's a lot of Carl in Mr. White. Sad he didn't undergo a transformation himself. Is Up perfect or the best Pixar film yet? I don't think so but I think a lot of folks will enjoy it despite it's formulaic tendencies and sappiness. Call me a pussy but I enjoy any film that can make me cry when things are sad and when noticing how beautiful some things in life can be. Enjoying the spectrum of emotions is what makes life worth living

Ok, so that sounded like a positive review right? Yeah, so why is it that I think this guy isn't totally nuts? He's right in so far as Pixar does follow a formula and they do it better then damn near anyone else out there. There are times where the movie was what many can call sentimental and yeah...but it worked. The first ten minutes of this movie I shed a tear of two. Yep, a grown man cryin' in a crowd of strangers. Pixar does with silence what few others can- tell an awesome story (as is also evident in their much loved shorts- the one preceding UP included).

/Film : How Can IMAX Save Their Name Brand?

I think we all can agree that Imax should disclose what type of Imax screening you're attending and that making the sub-category of Imax Digital is a must. But I think we're missing what we really should be talking about and it's a topic that I think this whole Imax debacle should be bringing up instead of the "it's not real Imax" that everyone is focusing on- the piss-poor presentation in movie theaters in general. I paid $15 to see Star Trek in Imax (digital)....twice. Yes, twice. Apart from the movie being as good as it was I dropped 15 bones twice for what I believe to be the best viewing choice I have within a two and a half hour driving distance (I've got a THX theater that far away). Picture as good as a 4K? Nope, I saw I a few flaws throughout the presentation (I'm pretty particular though, I doubt most would see what I saw). But is it better then a worn out, scratched to hell, reel changing mess? Big time. The other big thing for me was the sound. I know big picture is the most of the kick with Imax but tell me, when was the last time you saw a movie at a "regular theater" and the sound made you say, "Holy shit, that was awesome!" Doubt it happens very often, if at all. The Transformers 2 trailer made me say that in the "Imax" format (yesterday I saw Angles and Demons which also had the Transformers 2 trailer- sounded like a neutered dog). I bring this up to illustrate how very un-special going to the movies has become. With shitty picture and usually shittier sound that is presented to me for my $8-$10 by people who just don't give a flying fuck about Joe Movie Goer or take pride in what they do why is it that I'm willing to pay $15 to have only a slightly better experience- which in my opinion is what going to the movies should be- an experience. Hopefully with more and more digital screens rolling out to theaters some of this will be alleviated but with ticket prices constantly rising and people who care falls...who knows? Something is wrong with this situation.

/Film : Tom Cruise and His Many Great Collaborators, Fantastic Options

I'm really hopping Cruise gets back on top. Tropic Thunder threw a lot of love his way and I enjoyed him in Valkyrie (all and all a good movie BTW). The fact is, the man is a great movie star and a great actor (Magnolia anyone?) and people need to look past their petty bullshit and let the man get back to entertaining us. I'm rootin' for the dude.

/Film : The Special Effects Secrets of Benjamin Button Laid Bare

"I didn't notice any CGI while watching the film" This is what we refer to as a good movie- when you don't notice these things. I thought Button was a decent film (not great, just decent) but the FX were astounding. If this thing doesn't take hope all the FX Oscars it'll be a crime. Speaking of crime, there is no way that Taraji P. Henson shouldn't at least get a Best Supporting Actress Nom, she was outstanding.

/Film : LOL: Bolt's Reaction to WALL-E's Golden Globe Win

Wall-E, while a really good movie, is so overrated and (IMO) not the best animated movie of the year. Wall-E isn't even close to being Pixar's best and people are blowing it like it reinvented storytelling. I just don't get it.
