Whenever a CU official uses the word "strategic," we should always be skeptical if not quite concerned. Precisely what is that "strategy," pray tell?

I doubt such "strategizing" is for the long-term benefit of faculty, staff, and students. Rather it is for the benefit of developers, developers, and more developers. Hope I'm wrong, though.

Well actually, I can imagine a few such naive types—anyone who would vote Republican or the Creation Museum crowd.

As a "practical person" you surely know that $20,000 is not just given out of the goodness of their corporate "heart."

Blood Money or the "Encana Community Garden."

When companies "give" something, they want something in return.

And that something is almost always of far greater value than the pennies they provide.

Be careful, Erie. Be really careful. Is your children's health of less importance than a community garden?

And if you accept the money, be assured: it will no longer be a community garden.
