That would get Brexit done but it would also rile a lot of people ... Not sure. Actually, I'd prefer DD as PM and DR as DPM charged with delivering Brexit. DD could then make way for DR a couple of years down the road. Like Boris, DD is not known for his mastery of detail so I don't think he'd micromanage, but unlike Boris he has the distinct advantage of being infinitely more reliable, of having a much more interesting back story and having had far more diverse experience of the world.

What might work is Boris to be the dancing bear as PM and Raab as No.2 charged with Brexit. In other words to put DEXEU under the mandate of the Deputy PM.

The fact that Boris is obviously hopeless at detail and just seems cut out to be entertainer-in-chief and general popular poseur may even be turned into a good thing IF he can choose the right Cabinet ministers (and right mix) as he's unlikely to micromanage and should let them get on with their jobs.

On the basis of von Clauswitz's theory of the four different categories of officer and their respective qualities and vices and suitability for different roles, that MIGHT work ... But only might ...

Agreed on all counts. In a way i'd like it to be Boris, but have very serious doubts about his quality of resolution when the chips are down ... The life and sole of the party when things are going well, there's credit to be taken, laurels to be worn, egos to be polished ...

But when things are tight, i suspect he'll be looking for an easy way out or believe he can use his buffoonish charm to soft soap the situation. His public invocation of Churchill seems an easy sleight of hand to gain cheaply from the reflected glory, grandeur and gravitas of the great man and is more of a Walter Mitty trip than based on any substance. If he does get the nod, I hope I'll be proved wrong but I fear not.

Rudd will do what it takes to stay on the inside track, all the better to keep bro' Roland fully apprised of the goings on in the Cabinet.

With Alan Duncan, a Toxic Theresa groupie, on the Hunt supporter list, that is surely the kiss of death.

"How will May cope with being written up as the worst Prime Minister in modern history?"

She should be grateful to the author for not being written up as the worst Prime Minister EVER, that's how she should cope. Others may well not be so kind.

Her phrase "servant leadership" is a rehash of RMA Sandhurst's motto "Serve to Lead" but not as good.

Quite right, but possession is 9/10s of the law and turkeys don't vote for Xmas so I can't see a GE happening other than by accident or default. But I do agree, a GE would be the most democratic way forward. Are we a democracy? That is the question ...
