Breitbart.com : Swine flu could strain US health care system: WHouse

I'm beginning to see a pattern here...Obama proposes bad policy, public doesn't like it and turns its attention to Whitehouse's failures, Whitehouse attempts to divert public's attention by inventing a crisis. Sorry, America's smarter than that...watch as Obama's favorability continues to plumit.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : Books

Hey Walt, I just wanted to let you know I finished Farnham's Freehold today. I thought it was pretty good. I definitely needed a break from the more serious non-fiction books I have been reading lately such as Liberty and Tyranny, Liberal Fascism, and Meltdown (all very good and educational by the way). The story line was quite a stretch, but I guess it's to be expected with Sci Fi. But it had some great underlying themes. I like your taste. You listed a couple other of Heinlein's books, which would you recommend most? I'd like to read another one of his books sometime in the near future. I'm now starting Hayek's Road to Serfdom. Meltdown got me interested in Austrian Economics and I've heard Hayek's book is a classic that is very applicable in our day. Anyway, thanks for the recommendations, and keep them coming if you have more. I'm on a quest to make up for the many years of missed reading because I was too absorbed in shallow, worthless, pop-culture nonsense. God speed.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : 5/28/09 Speaking of Money, We Are Not Collecting Much From Taxes

I know it's difficult for liberals to understand because it requires thinking, but lowering taxes actually increases revenue. Lower taxes stimulates an economy and the increased growth offsets the lower tax rates. The result is more money for the government. Ronald Reagan proved this theory when he lowered the highest tax bracket from 70% to 28% and government increased their revenues over that amount of time. Unfortunately, that doesn't punish the rich for being successful, and it's inconsistent with redistribution of wealth policies, so Obama would never consider such an approach.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : Vent through 6/5

Jake, You're absolutely right. There is no direction to any movement right now. I thought something was starting with this and the tea party thing, but it seems to be falling apart quickly. I wonder what, if anything will be happening on the 4th of July. As far as our discussion earlier about project X - i honestly thought that part of the book was a pretty big stretch, but I think it was symbolic of how a government must take measures to keep their people oppressed in order to maintain a dictatorship. I would never see anything like that happening here. Despite the widespread apathy, Americans overall are a freedom loving people, and I believe that they would stand up before it got as far as it did in the book. However, if history teaches us anything, it's to never underestimate the evils that men are capable of. I imagine that if you asked any German in the early 1900's whether or not they believed their people would be responsible for widespread genocide of the Jews, they would say you were crazy and that would never happen.

Drwebb, I liked your post. I'm glad you appreciate America for what it is, or at least was. Unfortunately, we are on the fast track to socialism right now, and things are changing for the worst at an unbelievable pace. My last name is also Webb. I am in medical school, so soon to be a doctor as well. What kind of doctor are you? Good luck in all your future endeavors.

Yeah, and don't forget that those jobs are an average salary of $72000 with benefits and a guaranteed 2% raise each year. While the private sector workers' wages are stagnant at best, gov employees continue to see increases. Unbelievable!

I just finished reading Liberal Fascism and this is right out of the fascist playbook. The end justifies the means. If the end goal is peace, utopia, harmony, etc. then it's ok to institute war, terrorism, etc. to achieve that goal. that book has opened my eyes to a lot of distorted ideologies of the left.

Although more people are losing their jobs, we should be thankful that the dems in congress are looking out for the little guy by passing a bill that forces employers give mandatory vacation time to all full and part time employees. Who and what inspired this wonderful peace of legislation? Why it was Representative Alan Grayson from FL while he was on a vacation in Disney World. Just listen to these inspired words... “Honestly, as much as I appreciate this job and as much as I enjoy it, the best days of my life are and always have been the days I’m on vacation.” Hey you know, he's right. In fact let's just take this a step further and have the government force employers to pay for their employees to always be on vacation. Then their employees will always be happy. There's the solution to all our unemployment problems! I'm so glad our congressmen are looking out for the little guy.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : 5/9/09: Three Health Care Plans Being Considered, Still Missing - "None Of The Above"

My favorite part of this article is that, "President Barack Obama and many Democrats say a government option would serve as a check to keep the private insurance industry honest." If my memory serves me correctly, billions of tax dollars are wasted in medicare fraud every year. Oh, and politicians aren't capable of paying honest taxes, but sure, they'll keep health insurance honest. It seems that in other industries a mysterious little thing called the free market keeps companies honest. More government = more dishonesty, fraud, waste, and cost.

This is a great post Marine. I graduated in Economics, and we had Keynesianism shoved down our throats as accepted truth. But what always bothered me about it is exactly what you're saying here, and liberals just don't seem to understand. It's so simple. EVERY DOLLAR THAT THE GOVERNMENT PUTS IN TO THE ECONOMY WAS ALREADY TAKEN OUT OF THE ECONOMY IN A DIFFERENT FORM. That form is either taxes, debt (manifest as future taxes) or inflation (manifest when they just print money). The government can do nothing but transfer wealth. Production, innovation and wealth comes from the individual, and from government staying out of the way.

You're absolutely right. Obviously I was being a bit facetious in my comment. I find it hilarious that the mainstream media are reporting the fact that this is the lowest monthly job loss number in six months as a sign that the economy is turning around. It's still half a million jobs. Such a figure was unheard of only a year ago, and now it's some kind of victory? No my friend, I fear we have nothing to be optimistic about at this point.

See, I knew there was a silver lining in there somewhere. Thanks for pointing it out for me. Looks like this recession will be over before you know it. Who knows, maybe next month we'll only lose 499,999 jobs. Less than a half million in a month...would that be a real victory for the Obama administration or what!

You're exactly right. I was shocked to hear what those two former employees of ACORN had to say on Glenn's show the other night. They're all up to their ears in corruption, and Congress keeps funneling more and more money their direction. It makes me sick. I'm currently reading Liberal Fascism? Have you read that one? It's been good so far. If only liberals understood history I think they would be a lot less receptive to big government.

I'm glad you recognize it. It's possibly the best book I've ever read. I just finished it over last Christmas break.
Boy, Chavez is one evil commie! It makes me sick to know that our government is in bed with the likes of these people because we won't drill our own oil. On top of that, Obama shaking his hand and accepting his trash literature symbolizes that we are accepting of their behavior. I saw a hilarious report last night on MSNBC, (I know, I only watch it when occasionally flipping through the channels) and they were absolutely extatic about the fact that we ONLY lost 550,000 jobs this month. It's a six month low, you know. Apparently to them it shows that Obama is doing something right! Do you remember that first month at the end of last summer when we lost 250,000 jobs and it was like the second largest single month loss since the great depression? It took less than a year for people to forget about how significant the rate of job loss is in this country. It's pathetic on the part of the media. We are no where near the end of this recession, nor are we close to the bottom in the stock market just because we had a good rally this month. As Glenn often says, we're only 5 minutes into a 5 hour journey.

You're exactly right. Things are not changing at all, and this trend will easily continue through the rest of the year and longer if policies are not changed. We are seeing a repeat of what FDR did in the great depression where he ultimately declared war on business. Sure government jobs were created, but more private sector jobs were destroyed, so in the end the depression continued. I don't know if we'll be at 15% at the end of the year, but I wouldn't rule it out. Sorry to hear about your personal employment struggles. I feel kind of lucky because I'm in school right now which makes me somewhat immune to what is happening. However I don't know what to expect when I finish and enter the job market myself. God speed man.
