I was told by someone in Pittsburgh who was listening to the police scanner that this was sparked by an argument with the shooter's ex who had threatened to take his kids away. THAT was the straw that broke the camel's back, not a fear of his guns getting taken (though that may have been as well). The info came to me from an Obama supporter (who thinks I'm a conspiracy nut) that was shocked by the way the media presented this.
