You are wrong, Erie is right. They (and us) already have unlimited broadband capability and virtually every home and business has Access. The question is " should this be a government subsidy or program?" many of us don't want the government to monitor or control our private data stream (or to be dependent on them for it). "last mile" or final delivery of service is quickly moving to microwave technology anyway. They' d build a white elephant and get a 20 year debt for "paperweight" technology- typical government.

Whacktavist??? thats a new one. I agree their accusations didn't hold water, but they weren't meant to.
They just wanna jump in scare the hell out of a community with a Boogieman, then overtake the council. By the time you find out they llied about everything, the whacktavists run your town and took your checkbook. Erie and commerce city were smart to get those psychos out da Hay-ouse!
Ft. Collins ain't so smart though...

I think we all knew that crazy, over the top claims by Whacktivists were exaggerations if not outright lies.
Didn't make sense. If no one, basically, had ever been harmed in 50 years of fracking, why is it suddenly dngerous? Answer: it isn't. Not one Dr.s Diagnosis of illness caused by gas wells? not even one? Heck, tricycles and cu-tips have been proven more dangerous.
Fact is, a Faketavist car pollutes a hundred times more than a gas well. But then again, it's never been about facts to the Whacks.

NOTE: Buried in the article was the great big fact: Propane levels in Erie and Weld are one thousand fold below EPA minimum concern level. We might as well ban Neon gas... There's more of it.

Quite true. Fracktivists protest for fun, not truth or principle. Those of us who are truly environmentalists and committed to sutainability for everyone (businesses too), know that Natural gas is the answer as avery clean transition fuel until we can more sustainably harvest solar, wind etc.. Automobiles and lawnmowers produce far more emissions than Fracking and LNG.
Seriously- quit making these "Salem witch" allegations with no facts or context. They make serious environmentalists and scientists look bad by association.

Fracktivist Haters are out of control! The cars they drive to the protest sight produce vastly more emissions than any natgas or frack rig... Hell- your lawn mower does.( then they go home to their warm house and cook dinner both courtesy of Nat gas... )
Note no injury ever mentioned, only slander.
Natural gas is about the cleanest affordable fuel out there. Not too sharp!

You contradicted yourself a couple of times, Special "K". If Erie is annexing land for commercial development, that means more jobs and tax revenues to fund police stations etc., without debt.
That's smart, not stupid. You imply voters are stupid to reject more government debt... And government is stupid for developing alternate income that's not a debt to the peeps. The " folly " is your duplicitous,
Self serving attempt at coherent logic (and a horsey view).

Good points. Activists totally lost all credibility when their own scientists confirmed that local fracing and natural gas wells are about a hundred times safer than than minivans or barbeque grills.
It's good to see somebody do the actual research, instead of spewing "internet facts".
Good job getting to the truth, Mayor Joe!

Of Course! All the (alleged) problems happen to arrive in the same bus as the angry, shouting activists.
The sky is falling! They're gonna hurt your kids! -Initially, what mother wouldn't seek shelter and play defense first, then ask questions later? When they do get the facts, though, they are a bit peeved at the political con artists who "scared the hell" out of them and played em for fools.
They ruin property values by slandering the city with devastating accusations and before anyone can investigate and get the facts, the election is over and damage is done.
At least Erie got the facts for the citizens. Longmont, unfortunately, gave these haters a blank check for a few million citizen dollars in legal fees to fight the state in court. Good luck with that.

MOU's are (Civil) contracts and enforcable. The Camera article pointed out that COGCC will enforce the terms.
I get your drift, however Erie really did do this the right way, -They got the same things and more than we did in Longmont, but made it a private contract not a law. Contracts don't challenge State legal authority. High courts always hold that State law trumps local. We now get to pay a multi million dollar legal bill for a case we have to lose!
