My 70-year old ex coworker who just retired emailed me and asked if I wanted to meet him for lunch. I cringe.

He's bitter, negative, and I really just don't like him. I didn't mention the invite when I replied but he mentioned it again in his next email. He wants stories, and he wants to bitch and complain about the place. I'm so not in that place. There are no stories and my work life is better now that he's gone. Now I have to find ways to decline his offer as politely as possible...

I just wanted to say a public thank you to Maxichamp, who went out of his way to help me with a car problem. You once again prove how awesome Crasstalkers are.

It's a lease. I was planning on buying it at the end of the 3 years. I moved and ended up going over the 36k mileage limit.

No, I didn't even know it existed. Upon checking, Geico doesn't even offer it.

Any car insurance experts here?

I lease a car, and on Sunday I hit a deer. The insurance inspector called me today and told me that it's totaled. He gave me the value of the car, deducted the $500 deductible, and told me that that number is what they'll be paying. He was assuming that the value of the car was higher than the balance of the lease amount. He told me that I should expect a call from the Total Loss Department tomorrow.

I called the bank myself, and the balance of my lease is $2500 higher than the value of my car. I pretty much expect Geico to call me and tell me I owe them $2500. Is that an accurate assumption? I'm about to freak out.

"And I also know how important it is in life not necessarily to be strong but to feel strong, to measure yourself at least once, to find yourself at least once in the most ancient of human conditions, facing blind, deaf stone alone, with nothing to help you but your own hands and your own head."

"She convinces herself it's Chris, that it's her son whenever she passes a stray. And I fear for the mother in her. Instincts that seem to sense the threat of a loss so huge and irrevocable that the mind balks at taking its measure."

Both from the film Into the Wild; I'm not sure the exact sources.

I just went to a county fair to drink beer with a bunch of rednecks and a few chicks that my boyfriend either slept with or attempted to at one point. I'm also on day 3 of not smoking, cold turkey. I've managed to keep my mouth shut and put on a smile, although I did post something on Facebook about not wanting to be there. Now the boyfriend is mad at me because of it.

Fuck you, I say. Fuck. You.
